    Uniquely Morocco image
One of my girlfriends and I decided to book Hassan for a 14 day tour including a visit to the Merzouga Desert, Marrakech, Essaouira, the Atlas Mountains & more. While we were a bit apprehensive about such a long trip with a male stranger, Hassan quickly became more like a brother to us than a guide. He was extremely joyful, comfortable, knowledgeable, considerate, humorous and simply kind. We much appreciated his safe driving and the time he took to highlight aspects of Morocco, while also giving us plenty of free time. This is certainly a trip of a lifetime and one you won't want to end! See more..

    - Life-Changing Experience with JBT and Mountain Guide Rachid Jellah

    Journey Beyond Travel image
My son and I were scheduled to go to Morocco, March 2020, and we all know what happened and we just got back from an amazing trip that went beyond my expectations. When I first reached out to JBT, they were great in providing an itinerary and costs and worked with me to get a trip within my budget. We were picked up by our driver, Ilyass at the Marrakesh airport and he got us to our Riad. I can't say enough good things about Ilyass. I was with my 9 year old son and Ilyass interacted and talked with him often. We spent three nights at Riad Cherugi (lovely!) and then off to the Atlas mountains for a hike. The hotel Samba was a great experience, we arrived to a cold, damp late afternoon and when we woke up the next day, it was a beautiful cloudless day. Our guide for the hike, Rachid Jellah was unbelievable. I do a lot of walking at home, but it's not uphill like we did. He let me go at my own pace and cheered me on throughout the hike. He was amazing! Then we were off to Tagazhout for some surfing. Hotel Mumba was a great place and the room was perfect, views to the ocean were spectacular. We surfed and it was a great ending to the trip as it provided some rest and relaxation from a busy few days. Ilyass was wonderful and couldn't have asked for a better driver. He was there when he said he was going to be, made some great recommendations for restaurants when I asked and overall just made it a fun week for us. I felt we really got a true sense of Morocco and what it offers. From the big city, to the beautiful mountains to the beach. Although I know we only scratched the surface, there is so much more to explore. If you are looking to do a trip to Morocco, this is the place! See more..

We visited these gardens without knowing anything about them. We spent a good amount of time walking around and just enjoying the beauty of the trees, the plants, the flowers, the water features and other delights of this wonderful piece of escape from the buzz of the rest of the city. Fortunately there were not many visitors on the day, so it was quite peaceful and relaxing. A good place to visit if you can spare the time. See more..
  9. 4.5 Bou Inania Medersa (976 reviews)
    - Wonderful playground! really an Arabic artwork!
Spent More than 3 hours Architectural Buildings
    Bou Inania Medersa image
Bou Inania Medersa is an Arabic school located in the Medina (old town) of Fez, one of the imperial cities in Morocco. We came here with a guide (it is impossible not lost in the Medina and googlemaps does not work very well) and we enter in the courtyard: it is wonderful! all walls are decorated in a fine Arabic style, so you can enjoy seeing it. Pitifully, only it is possible to see this part, because other places are closed to no Muslims. However, enter here is very recommendable for adults and children (it is a closed place, where children can not go out). 11. 4.5 Al-Attarine Madrasa (553 reviews)
    - Smaller, but very decorated madrasa in the medina
    Architectural Buildings
    Al-Attarine Madrasa image
Our local guide Hassan brought us here as part of exploring the famous Fes medina on a Wednesday in March 2022. The entry fee was US $2 (20 DH) and it was fairly empty, which was great for wandering. We went upstairs to the old student cells and enjoyed finding all the different doorway and window shapes and sizes. As everywhere in Fes, the tile work was exquisite. There was a lot of Arabic scrollwork in the main entryway, as befitting an Islamic school. We spent less than an hour here. See more..
  12. 4.5 Glaoui Palace (236 reviews)
    - Enchanted ruins!
Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites
    Glaoui Palace image
This dilapidated palace is very worth a visit. It's caretaker, a celebrated pointilist artist, claims to be a descendent of the Glaoui family. While it is sad that the palace has not been restored to its full former glory like some in Marrakesh, it is a unique experience and an impactful look at modern Morocco. The caretaker also sells his work for reasonable prices, so don't be afraid to ask. See more..
  13. 4.5 Art D'Argile (223 reviews)
    - Colourful chaos!
    Art Galleries
    Art D'Argile image
An educational and entertaining experience. My sister and I were shown how the mosaics were made and then given the opportunity to browse at our leisure and did not feel pressured in any way. The assistants were very pleasant and helpful. they asked questions to help narrow down the almost overwhelming selection. The vase I bought (including shipping insurance) was shipped directly to my house and packaged so well it took me almost an hour to get the vase out and clean up the packing materials. If you are looking for quality mosaic/pottery pieces I highly recommend Art D’Argile See more..

    - A must see
    Architectural Buildings
    Cherratin Medersa image
Cherratin Medersa is an interesting place to visit. It is or was a religious school with quarters for students to stay and looking at the small rooms you might wonder about the amount of space they had to make do with. It was very popular in its heyday. It consists of three floors and the architecture is masterful. It's certainly worth a visit. See more..
  16. 4.5 Sahrij Medersa (47 reviews)

    Sahrij Medersa image
This is a medersa which is contemporary with Medersa Attarine. It was built in early 1300’s by Marinid Sultan Abou el Hassan. It is one of the most interesting structures of Fez Medina. You can find it near the Andalusian Mosque. It has a smaller sister Madrasa, called Sbaiyyin, connected to it. Sahrija is a fully functioning Koranic School. It is named after the huge pool in it’s lovely courtyard. The zellij mosaic here is the oldest in Fez and truly a sight to behold. You can see some superb Almohad cedar carvings here. See more..

Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Chateau Roslane image
We had a wonderful experience visiting Chateau Roslane, with a tour of the winemaking facility that operates on a scale and with a standard of professionalism that is world-class. Our guide Yassin was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the place, as well as indepth knowledge about every aspect of winemaking that we asked him about! After the tour we enjoyed an amazing dinner with extremely friendly attentive service from our waiter Reda. Prices were reasonable and the quality of the food and menu selection was great. You can tell visiting that meticulous care has been taken with every aspect of the guest experience and after this visit we will now be the place we recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Meknes! 20. 4.0 Museo Nejjarine (1.073 reviews)
    - Mind blowing!
    Speciality Museums
    Museo Nejjarine image
This woodwork museum is built in an old caravanserai or traveller’s lodge. Fondouks are buildings built around a central courtyard, to provide shelter and protection for traders from the caravan routes, their animals and the goods they transported and travelers. These houses have two floors; on the ground floor, food and animals were given lodging and food, and merchandise was deposited, and merchants and travelers were accommodated on the upper floor. You can see wooden doors, furniture, chests and musical instruments dating from 14th- to 18th-century here. But the main attraction is the beautiful building. You can even have tea on it’s terrace, with a panoramic view of the Fez Medina. The stairs are a little hard to climb. See more..
  21. 4.0 Meknes Medina (973 reviews)
    - Wonderful Medina (old town)!
    Historic Sites • Neighborhoods
    Meknes Medina image
Meknes Medina is the old town of the imperial city of Meknes, 1 hour far from Fez, the most important city in the region. The Medina is very beautiful, so, walking on the old streets, seeing the buildings, visit the most important places and buying in the shops is an incredible experience. We did a guided tour with a local guide and really it was very interesting. We visited Bou Inania Madrassa (a Muslim school), where you can go up to the top and see wonderful views of the city and the Big Mosque or you can see the central courtyard, a fantastic example of Arabic Art. Also we visited a public oven, the blacksmiths neighborhood, the carpenters neihhborhood, zocos, the main market, where you can buy a lot of different sweets. And obviously El Hedim Square and Bab Mansour Gate, the main square of the city and the center, where all local people come at evening. Really fantastic places! Moulay Abdellah Quarter image
I liked it. You won’t see this too many places. It is free and you’ll get a free “guide” to escort you and he’ll give you a sprig if mint to offset the spell. Then ur guide will walk you thru 4-5 rooms of leather goods. But they’re nice and won’t make u buy. See more..
  23. 4.0 Chouara Tannery (745 reviews)
    - A must while in Fes
Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Flea & Street Markets
    Chouara Tannery image
I feels like visiting Fes wouldn't be complete without going to the Tannery. The leather work is stunning, like most places in Morocco it feel that the merchants are after your money in ways we are not used in North America. It will smell strongly so be prepared for that too. I still recommend this place as a must in fes. See more..
  24. 4.0 Bab Mansour Gate (681 reviews)
    - Stunning big gate!
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Bab Mansour Gate image
Bab Mansour Gate is one of the gates located in the wonderful wall of the imperial city called Meknes, in Morocco. It is located just in the El Hedim Square, the main square of the city, which at evening is always full of people. This gate is wonderful! It is very big and very good decorated with Arabic caligraphy. Really, it is an artwork! You can see it from the entrance of the square or from the terrace of Palais of Idrissides. Also, inside the gate, there is a little expositions room. When we visited it, at the end of december-2019, we saw a wood figures exposition of a local artist. Interesting. 26. 4.0 Tombe dei Merenidi (466 reviews)
    - Very beautiful views of old city
    Ancient Ruins
    Tombe dei Merenidi image
Tombe dei Merenedi are tombs located in the surroundings of Fez, one of the imperial cities in Morocco. In fact, these ruins are located in a hill, from where you can see probably the best views of the old city of Fez, it is a very good lookout. Also, these remains are tombs about 14th Century, so it is a very important historical site in the city. Pitifully, the place is a bit degraded, so it needs to be cleaned and it will be a very nice place to walk during the day for people, who live in the city. (see also Medina of Fez, Al-Attarine Madrassa, Bou Inania Medersa, Kairaouine Mosque, Chouara Tannery, Place Seffarine, Zaouia of Moulay Idriss II, Bab Boujloud, the Blue Gate of Fez, Restaurant Nejjarine and Boujloud Square) See more..

    - Wonderful and big main square of Meknes
    Historic Sites
    El Hedim Square image
El Hedim Square is the main square of Meknes, one of the imperial cities in Morocco. It is really a wonderful place and it is the center of the town with shops, markets, the Medina and a lot of activities at the evening in the square. Here there are the most important sightseeing points of the city like Bab Mansour, the main gate, the Medina (old town), the main market and a lot of shops. Also, at evening it is possible to come here with the family and see some street shows and drive a little car. My daughter enjoy a lot here. In the square, there are some bars and restaurants, where you can eat good local food. Fantastic place. (see also Meknes Medina, Bab Mansour Gate, Bu Hbibi Snack Bar) See more..

  29. 4.0 Fez Mellah (364 reviews)
    - A different neighbourhood
    Historic Sites
    Fez Mellah image
We visited this jewish neighbourhood just outside Fez Medina. The feeling was completely different as (almost) nobody was hassling or bothering us like in the Medina and nobody harassing you to visit their shop. Feels very safe We drank an orange juice and a coffee in a crowded environment, taking our time and chatting with the owner. I would recommend doing some shopping here if you like as they aren't pushy and prices seems ok (we bought some spices and dates). Cannot comment on the graveyard or the synagogues as we were going for the royal palace. See more..
  30. 4.0 Fontaine Nejjarine (350 reviews)
    - Wonderful
    Fountains
    Fontaine Nejjarine image
This is a beautiful saqayya located in the heart of the Fes Medina, near the end of Talâa Seghira. It is a canopied water feature, with an elegant wooden overhanging. You can see the most exquisite zellij mosaic work here. There is classy calligraphy and lovely stucco work done on this fountain. It is the pride of Place en Nejjarine. It is named after the carpenters or Nejjarine who have workshops around it. There are shops selling mule saddles and gigantic throne like wedding chairs around this fountain too. There are two elegant columns in this fountain. It was built as a Sabil or charity structure, so that the travellers staying in the Fondouq nearby could drink water and perform ablutions here.
