Mind blowing!
This woodwork museum is built in an old caravanserai or traveller’s lodge. Fondouks are buildings built around a central courtyard, to provide shelter and protection for traders from the caravan routes, their animals and the goods they transported and travelers. These houses have two floors; on the ground floor, food and animals were given lodging and food, and merchandise was deposited, and merchants and travelers were accommodated on the upper floor. You can see wooden doors, furniture, chests and musical instruments dating from 14th- to 18th-century here. But the main attraction is the beautiful building. You can even have tea on it’s terrace, with a panoramic view of the Fez Medina. The stairs are a little hard to climb.

Beautiful museum, quiet place for a break from the medina
Our whole group loved this museum. The building was beautiful. Items were well displayed and signs were well written in English, French, and Arabic. My kids loves reading and learning, and they went through this museum at their own pace. The woodworking artistry displayed here is amazing! The building itself is also gorgeous. This was a nice, cool, quiet oasis after feeling a bit frazzled from the medina. 20 dh to enter, 10dh for refreshments at the cafe on the rooftop.

Craftsmanship Galore
My teenage daughter and I both enjoyed our experience at this museum — especially because we could take our time appreciating the vast history of Moroccan craftsmanship without feeling pressured at the end to *buy* something. The only negative vibe that I experienced here was when the man in charge of the tickets scoffed when I presented four 10DH coins (price for two tickets) ... it appears that Moroccans expect exact bills at all times ... coins or *large* bills are a great inconvenience. Our local guide graciously swooped in and said he *needed* coins and presented man with an agreeable bill.
