Beware the falling tide
We, swimmers as we are, saw calm water and immediately jumped into. Whoops! We started at the local beach (behind Hotel Lagon Bleu) and wound up at the next beach out towards the mouth of the lagoon. You see, as the tide recedes, it of course pulls the water from the lagoon, creating quite the current. We were not prepared and were quite literally swept away. Stupid, yes. Dangerous, well, there was another beach and plenty of help nearby if we'd not made it...

Pleasant beach time
We visited in the off season of early October. The lagoon is very nice and the beach is not as littered as in Essaouira. You can take a boat tour with an oyster farm stop for tasting, there are stalls cooking food on the beach, vendors selling oysters and sea urchins leading up the beach (they wash their hands with water - not sure about soap - before serving you) and a gentleman was offering to set up carpet and chairs as well as BBQ fish along with salad as a beach experience. We had a great time just playing in the water (many calm pockets) and watching the waves crash on the rocks not too far off.

The 2nd best lagoon in Morocco
this lagoon is like a highway in the summer. between the fishermen, the taxi boats, the zodiac from surfland and all the people swimming in high tide, it's super crowded. However, it's super beautiful and this is what makes oualidia beautiful
