Things to do & places to visit in Rajasthan, India
The state of Rajasthan in northwestern India includes part of the Thar Desert, as well as Ranthambhor National Park, home to wild tigers, and verdant Mount Abu and its elaborate temples. A camel safari near the inhabited desert trading center of Jaisalmer gives a hint of the area's beautiful desolation. Udaipur's lakefront setting provides rich counterpoint. The capital of Jaipur is a shopper's dream. Hire a car and driver to take in the spread-out sights. Stay in a heritage hotel to feel like a maharaja.

Bodies of Water
It’s probably a must do on any itinerary certainly does not require a guide. The boat leaves the ghat at least every 20 mins and it s a relatively serene short slow putt putt along the edge of the lake to the main commercial island. The return journey,no longer requires ticketing and you can just board any returning boat. It’s similar to a Venice boat cruise or a ferry ride across Sydney harbour, you just happen to be in udaipur. See more..
- 4.5 Jaisalmer Fort (5.571 reviews)
-Rare Living Fort Worth Seeing
Thursday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Historic Sites
This is a rare living Fort where the locals still reside. PROS: Many areas to explore. Lots of shopping. Cafes with spectacular views over the city. The architecture of the Fort provides many social media picture spots. CONS: There is a scooter and motor rickshaw traffic up into the Fort on very narrow roads. You feel you are going to get run over sometimes. If you are challenged in walking you will have a hard time getting around as there are many stairs and steep roads in the Fort. There is a certain amount of garbage lying around in and around the Fort. The local government should hire street cleaners to pick the garbage up as they do in other parts of India. There are tour guides at the entrance of the Fort that you can hire for $500 rupees. Our guide did a good job until the end when he started pressuring us to go to several tourist shops which we never asked for. See more..

While the Amer itself is a huge fort palace, each of the public quarters is just awesome. The intricacy of design and workmanship is exquisite.the sheesh mahal is the centre piece of attraction. Kumbhalgarh Fort is located approximatly 40 Kms from Udaipur City along the Aravalli Ranges The structure is a standing testimony of the tactical brilliance of the Mewar kings and the grandeur of their architecture. A cursory tour of the complex will consume atleast two hours and a detailed inspection will take atleast half a day. The apex of the fort is known as Badal Mahal which is an airy structure from where a panoramic view of the fort and its almost 40 km long rampart is visible. Numerous Jain and Hindu temples dot the complex. These were built by various rulers at different poibts in time. It would be ideal to ascend the fort during the morning hours when the climate is conducive. Do carry a back pack with water bottles and some thing to snack along. Entry is chargeable. - 4.5 Chand Baori (Step well) (1.136 reviews)
-Architectural marvel...a must see
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Ancient Ruins • Architectural Buildings
Visited the place on the return journey from Ranthambore, taking a detour from Dausa to Abhaneri. Prominently located next to a tarmac road, the structure is co located with Harshat Mata Temple. Now a heritage site, there is ample parking next to the monument with a minimally priced entry ticket of Rs 25/- per Indian adult. The history of Chand Baori talks about its strategic location between 2 rivers, ensuring that the ground water never dries up. Steps are on 3 sides with changing rooms and enclosures for the princely patrons on one side. The whole Baori is iron fenced to prevent accidents but the thought, design and stone carvings create a beautiful ambience. -Chittorgarh Fort
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 10:59 PM Spent More than 3 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks
It is a nice fort. It will take 4-6 hrs to visit each part. The entrance of the fort gives you a royal feeling. Just imagine, you entering the Fort on horseback or on a chariot. Inside the Fort, there are some touristy spots as well as someplace where you just seat & can spend the time & rewind the history. The water reservoir named Gomukh is different. Think about the technology to create it. Some part of the fort is ruin. Also before booking the auto ( as it is a very large fort so only walking is not possible) fixed the rate whether it is includes guide charge or not. See more..
