  4. 5.0 Lakshmana Temple (292 reviews)
    - I recommend making time for temple
    Architectural Buildings
    Lakshmana Temple image
I followed the suggested route and this was the first of the Khajuraho temples that contained the famous erotic sculptures. The temple is dedicated to the four head form of Lord Vishnu, Vaikuntha Chaturmurti. Which was a bit strange because the idol of Vishnu in the sanctum only had three heads. This temple sits on an elevated platform as do all of the temples in the complex. The outer walls of the temple are richly decorated with the aforementioned sculptures, but also many dedicated to the subject of other Hindu gods including Vaikuntha Chaturmurti, Ganesh and scenes from Hindu myths. One of the best temples to see in the complex and one I recommend making time for. See more..

We visited Onkareshwar temple in a car from Indore. The distance is approximately 75 km with good but heavily trafficked road. It took us 2 hours to reach Onkareshwar. We parked our car in the temple parking near to temple which was free of cost. We hired a pandit for only Rs 101 and he took us inside saving some of our time and queue. We were also able to do Jalabhishek. It is recommended to visit the temple on week days other than sundays. There is no dress code inside the temple like most of the Shiv temples elsewhere. There are many local restaurants and refreshments vendors near the temple. You can reach temple either through bridge or a boat. We took bridge. There is another Jyotirling called Mamleshwar across the river Narmada opposite Onkareshwar Temple. Overall a nice experience . See more..

    - Beautiful Pench !!
Thursday: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Pench Tiger Reserve image
Pench Tiger Reserve comprises the Indira Priyadarshini Pench National Park, the Mowgli Pench Sanctuary and a buffer. The Park nestles in the Southern slopes of the Satpura ranges of Central India. The river Pench, which splits the National Park into two, forms the lifeline of the Park. The area of the present tiger reserve has a glorious history. A description of its natural wealth and richness occurs in Ain-i-Akbari. Several natural history books like R. A. Strendale's 'Seonee - Camp life in Satpura Hills,' Forsyth's 'Highlands of Central India' and Dunbar Brander's 'Wild Animals of Central India' explicitly present the detailed panorama of nature's abundance in this tract. Strendale's semi-autobiographical 'Seonee' was the inspiration behind Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. FACTS Remember Mowgli, the pint-sized 'Man-Child' or Bagheera, the Black Panther? And who can forget the inimitable Sher Khan, the villain of Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book. Kipling was inspired to write his memorable book by the luxuriant forest cover of Pench teeming with an astonishing variety of wildlife. EXCURSIONS For more details visit National Parks Excursion Reservation Portal MUST SEE PLACES LAND OF THE 'THE JUNGLE BOOK': The Pench Tiger Reserve and its neighbourhood is the original setting of Rudyard Kipling's most famous work, The Jungle Book. Kipling borrowed heavily from Robert Armitage Strendale's books 'Seonee', 'Mammalia of India and Ceylon' and 'Denizens of the Jungle' for the topography, wildlife, and its ways. Mowgli was inspired by Sir William Henry Sleeman's pamphlet, 'An Account of Wolves Nurturing Children in Their Dens' which describes a wolf-boy captured in Seoni district near the village of Sant Baori in 1831. Many of The Jungle Book's locations are actual locations in Seoni District, like the Waingunga river with its gorge where Sherkhan was killed, Kanhiwara villlage and the 'Seeonee hills'. Inside the forest, it was shivering cold and the first few hours of our safari,We found a herd of spotted deer, a Gour (Indian Bison), a Barasingha (Swamp Deer), few Sambar, peacocks. We were hopeless on seeing a Tiger suddenly we got a glimpse of a tiger on our left. We still had doubts that he (as per guide version it was a male) will come out. Suddenly he emerged from jungle in full glory and crossed the road, barely 20 mtrs from our jeep! Sighting tiger in its natural habitat is never a sure thing, a lot depends on the luck and yeah we are all the luckiest bunch See more..

For visiting this fall you have to hire Gypsy from Bison Lodge without which one has to park his private vehicle far away from the fall and then walk down for at least 3 km . For viewing the fall one has to go deep down the forest. Though steps are there but it is a difficult terrain to visit.BP , Cardiac, Diabetes patients find it difficult to go down. Though I was a Diabetes patient I went down all the 400 plus steps.Gowing down was not that extraneous but for coming up I had to struggle hard but managed to come back on top after visiting the fall. But my wife couldn't go down and she had to wait until we all returned. Anyway it was a good adventure going down. Must visit for youngsters and those who can manage to go down. See more..

  30. 4.5 Ram Raja Temple (284 reviews)
    - He is King Ram here
    Religious Sites
    Ram Raja Temple image
The Lord Ram is King Ram here, hence called Raja Ram Mandir. You will go thru the story of this at many other reviews and articles, so i am not repeating. What to see here 1. There is a very beautiful painting of Kuwari Ganesh and Lod Ram sitting on her lap. Unfortunately since cameras are not allowed here, we cant click a photo of this. 2. In the temple Raja Ram is accompanied by Sita (on the left), brother Laxman (on the right), Maharaj Sugreev and Narsingh Bhagwan (on the right). Durga Maa is also present in the darbaar on the right side. Hanumaan ji and Jamwant ji are praying just below Sita. 3. Probably the only temple in the world where Lord Rama is in sitting pose. 4. King Rama is having a sword in hand. 5. Armed salutation (guard of honor) is provided to King Ram. I would suggest to go here at night after the Sound and light show of Orcha Fort as the crowd is substantially less and can have a peaceful darshan. See more..
