  4. 4.5 Kailasagiri (1.578 reviews)
    - for the View of Visakhapatnam
Thursday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Parks
    Kailasagiri image
For the First Impression, you just see the Statues of God Shiva and Parvati with some Children parkon top of a small Hill which can be reached by Car or through cable . There are some view points within the park for which you have to walk a lot on the Hilly Terrain. With kids, we opted for the Toy Train ride which too seemed waste of money intially, but after half journey of the train , you come across some superb view points which give you the view of whole Visakhapatnam, from the Sea to the Hills. For us the viewpoints we got through the Train ride were the main takeways from this place. See more..
  5. 4.5 Borra Caves (1.310 reviews)
    - Biggest and well maintained cave
    Caverns & Caves
    Borra Caves image
This is the biggest cave in India. It is very well maintained, there are spots which are also 2 floors above in cave itself. It is nice cool place, many limestone formations. Cleanliness is maintained. Good lighting is done throughout the cave. It is slippery at places due to water seepage but that is natural and no one can do anything about it. Carry enough water inside. Also make use of dustbins kept inside to throw your litter. Outside the cave there are lots of shops selling souvenirs, eatables but there are lot of monkeys as well. If you take something to eat, ensure you eat at shop itself. Just 100 metres before the cave there are small restaurants serving good food, both veg and non veg. Bamboo chicken being the specialty here. They serve authentic bamboo chicken. Borra caves are closed for entry from 1 pm to 2 pm, but if you are inside cave before 1 pm you can continue to stay inside See more..

The vehicles can be taken up to temple premises with some entry fees, there was parking available at top, the ride was smooth. When we visited, there was limited crowd, hence darshan was quick. The temple under illumination was looking bright. Overall a delightful temple visit. See more..

The temple is not as crowded as the Tirumala temple (unless there is a special occasion), yet the general darshan or Sarvdarshan takes quite a bit of time. There is also a quicker way of darshan if you opt for Kumkum Archana, but it happens only between 3pm to 4pm and the tickets are also dispensed at the spot and only between 3pm to 4pm (no online booking available). - Meditation place of monks, now a tourist spot!
    Thursday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Caverns & Caves
    Belum Caves image
We were informed that in olden days, Jain monks would mediate in these caves, away from noise and people. It was much later discovered in 1884 by Robert Bruce and later taken over by the AP tourism department. The caves are a treat to watch and one can see the intricate work made by underground water systems. Its about 2 hours of moving about randomly in corners of the caves which have stalactites, stalagmites, underground water etc. The AP tourism department has done a good job of providing fresh air and light effects inside the caves making them more enchanting. Gandikota Fort image
We went from Bangalore and covered Gandikota Fort/Canyon and Belum Caves over two days. First about the trip and then some inputs on trip. We left on Saturday, Oct 24th at 11AM from Bangalore, reached Gandikota in evening around 5PM around the sunset time. Spent some time there and moved to our hotel around 40 mins from there. We then came came back again in morning to watch the most beautiful sunset and spent an hour or so. Then we left for Belum caves at around 12pm, reached there by 1.30 pm, spent an hour there and then left for Bangalore, took a break of 30 mins to catch some snacks and reached home by 8pm. This, should give idea about the time required to cover the distances. Now some inputs: 1. There are not many great food outlets once you cross the airport area so pack some food with yourself. 2. It gets quite hot during the day time in and around Gandikota, and Belum, even in October. So, do carry some sun screen. 3. There is not a lot to do there apart from the fort and the canyon so plan your time accordingly. 4. The area around Belum caves is supposed to have a govt restaurant running but it wasn’t operational when we were there, may be due to Covid reasons. So, again make arrangements for food beforehand. - Memorable Darshana of Lord Narasimha with Naveen (9542273522) guide
    Thursday: Religious Sites
Diguva Ahobila Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple image
I went to the Ahobilam with my wife. Our focus was to see the place where Lord appeared and get Darshana of Lord Narasimha. Based on previous reviews from fellow travellers we book guide Naveen (9542273522), who was well conversant with English (as I know Hindi and English only). Naveen is very honest, punctual, very helpful, and knows the place history, people and temple priests quite well. He planned our day such that we get all Narasimha temple darshana with least effort with trekking. It was very hot during day time in January and he took us thru river route which is less strenuous and cool. He even helped my wife in terrain where it is difficult to walk. He also arranged the Jeep for Pavana and Bhargava Narasimha darshana. He also helped with the places for food as we have limited choice being eating only Vaishnava food. Ahobilam is quite beautiful with lush green forest and water streams. We had a good Darshana of Lord Narasimha in all 9 temples and priests performed Lord's aarti in our presence and explain the deities with their history. My pilgrimage to Ahobilam is memorable with good Lord Darshana and good explanation, guidance, and company of Naveen. Highly recommend to fellow traveller to take Naveen guide. It will not only make your trip or pilgrimage memorable memorable and but also cost effective. See more..

Nice, quiet place that is not crowded. Is a good drive from Bengaluru (340 km). The temple is simple and nice. The statue of Nandi is impressive. The caves are a good experience. The steps are narrow and steep. Plus, water drips from the roof, making the steps slippery. Adventurous, but not for everyone. Good option for a day trip. On the way, you will see the factory of KIA Motors. You might even consider camping overnight. Carry food and water. Toilets are available. They are not well-maintained, but usable. Words of advise: Driving during the day can be tiring because the route gets hot as early as 8 am. See more..
