Beautiful fort

Jodhpur is a city in the Thar Desert of the northwest Indian state of Rajasthan. Its 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort is a former palace that’s now a museum, displaying weapons, paintings and elaborate royal palanquins (sedan chairs). Set on on a rocky outcrop, the fort overlooks the walled city, where many buildings are painted the city’s iconic shade of blue.Explore Jodhpur holidays and discover the best time and places to visit. | Mighty Mehrangarh, the muscular fort that towers over the Blue City of Jodhpur,

    Beautiful fort
Beautiful and not to be missed. It is better to buy tickets online and avoid the crowds because visitors are not wearing masks. The elevator takes you directly to the rampart and one has to buy separate tickets for that. All the restaurants inside the fort are closed like the Chokelao. A guide is a must at this palace as audio guide has been discontinued and the guides are extremely well informed about the palace and the city history. The tour takes 2.5 hour and the palace doesn't have ac rooms but inside it is cool and easy for children to go around.

Magnificent Fort and Spectacular view of city
Fort is magnificent and provides spectacular view of old and new Jodhpur city. You can view the old city walls from the fort. There are few rooms that have been converted to museum and remaining are locked. It will take 2-3 hours to view complete fort. There is small cafeteria where you can buy snacks, fast food and water bottles after the main gate. Ola/Uber are readily available to and from the fort and even there is auto stand outside. You can either start the tour from bottom and go to rooms one by one till top and come back OR take a lift to top and then come down viewing each room. Lift ticket costs 50 Rs extra but you can skip taking it as it hardly takes 10 minutes coming down. Guide charge is 500 Rs for 1-4 people which is on higher side. Ticket is 200 Rs per person. Fort has tour directions, proper signs and museum will have details of the artifacts written in english/hindi. It is good to take a guide and support them but if you are on tight budget then you can view some youtube videos featuring the fort guide and explore the fort yourself. Hollywood movie Dark Knight Rises was shot outside the fort and you can see the exact spot from the top of fort (google how to find it). Overall good experience exploring our history and culture.
