3.5BaiLong Elevator(62 reviews) - Great view, if you can catch it... Observation Decks & Towers
BaiLong Elevator offers amazing views, but only if you are lucky enough to be among the first to enter the elevator and locate yourself of front of the window - otherwise, the only thinks you'll see will be the backs of the people in front of you. It's still worth a try ...See more..
The rooms are likely as they were 300 or more years ago. There are a few pieces of furniture in most rooms. As a tourist attraction, I would at best rate it as average, Mow a must see.See more..

3.5Ziquejie Terrace National Scenic Resort(7 reviews) - Great place to experience rular China landscape. Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Forests • Geologic Formations
One of the places to enjoy rice terraces in China. This is not a very turistic place, even for Chinese people. Lot of spots with amazing views but the impression depends on the season you came here. We were here in the beginning of april, a little bit too early, before the rice was planted. Whe lived in a hotel in Xinhua and reached Ziquejie with the early bus (7:20 am). The driver suggested us to live the bus at the topmost villages and walk down to Shuiche village. It was a good idea, we could enjoy the landscape from many different perspectives.See more..
3.5Wanhua Rock Scenic Resort(7 reviews) - Business Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Geologic Formations
A cave right next to a thriving industrial town, Wanhuayan Cave, might not be on everyone's tourist agenda. However, this is worth a visit. The cave entrance is very harmoniously developed to make a very pretty entrance with an entrance lake and forecourt from which to savour the cool cave wind that exits the cave. The path through the cave is over 2k, so it must rate as one of the longest show caves around. Tourists are thankfully left to their own to explore, with key features explained on numerous boards. One can even enter a little side passage to get a feel for real caving. It is a good cave - my only regret is the coloured lighting which deflects from the natural splendour of this place. See more..
3.5Xihu Park of Hengyang(7 reviews) - 衡阳的西湖公园 Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bodies of Water • Parks
3.5Hengyang Zoo(5 reviews) - This zoo left me sad and depressed Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Zoos
I usually love going to a zoo and seeing the animals at play, but this zoo was tiny, I wasn't expecting a large zoo, but my bedroom was bigger than most of the cages. And to see a Tiger in an enclosure the same size as a monkey (smaller than my bedroom) was just awful. Especially for endangered animals, there should be some basic guidelines to be able to keep these animals, I know many people dislike zoos for this reason, but I think for the sake of the preservation of a species, they can play an important role, but there was no preservation, only exploitation here. Many of the enclosures were empty, dirty, no natural environment, just a concrete box with bars and wires so thick you had trouble seeing in anyway.See more..
This ancient pagoda is located in someone backyard and despite its small structure , it is over 900 years old . But it lies in ruin due to lack of maintenance and care . It is an ancient relic that is worth saving by the city management for future generation .See more..
The car ride from Yueyang city to Dayun mountain national forest 大云山 took about 2 hours drive through narrow hillside roads , barely wide enough for just 1 car . I would not recommend overseas visitors to China to undertake this car journey without a local guide . On arrival at the Da Yun mountain , we were confronted with a collection booth for an entrance fee of 38 RMB per passenger and 20 RMB per car . What a rip off ! From the gate booth to one of the ancient temple called ZhenJun Temple which was built during the Northern Song Dynasty 2,000 years ago . Before the ZhenJun Temple ,there is another temple with an orange color roof which I was told , is also pretty old . But it has a nasty commercial streak from the temple management . In this temple , Offerings to pray for family welfare etc come in various prices according to the devotee budget or wallet . The cheapest offering to pray for family welfare peace and happiness is 168 RMB . It was a steep climb to the ZhenJun temple from the base and in the temple compound there is a further two other temples , one small and the other a larger one . The smaller temple looks a bit older with its low ceiling and solid stone walls . There is no visible relics or sculpture to indicate that the ZhenJun temple was built during the Northern Song period . Unfortunately the English inscriptions describing the temple on a stone tablet for the ZhenJun temple were barely legible . Not worth the entrance fee of 38 RMB per person but most importantly it is not worth the 2 hours drive through small hilly villages with big farmer mansion type of houses , spreading out their rice Padi ( husky rice ) to dry on windy narrow hillside roads .See more..

3.0Baiyun Reef(2 reviews) - actually not bad Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Ancient Ruins • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas I booked this hotel as running out of options as a last minute booking & no other hotels available, I was scared by some of the other reviews but actually I need not have been, it was safe with a 24hour concierge, the rooms were clean if a little basic (but this is Cuba-where european standards are not the same), I didn't have the breakfast as I generally avoid food in budget hotels, the location was fantastic for the malecon & the havana vieja (old town). My message is don't be put off by some of the reviews & I generally have found 7ideas good/helpful too. See more..
3.0Shaoyang North Tower(2 reviews) - Difficult to rate as no longer able to access Thursday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Observation Decks & Towers I'm sure this would have been a very nice tower to visit except that you can no longer access this tower. There is two both of which were either locked or cemented and is no longer looked after by anyone. Such a shame as it's history ties in with the Ming Dynasty and I'm sure would have offered fantastic views. Shame this site has been neglected.See more..
3.5Jinggang Ancient Town(2 reviews) - Ancient riverside town for Chinese tourists Historic Sites • Historic Walking Areas
This river town, restored with an ancient feel, is moderately interesting. Paved with old stones and showing some of the building styles dating back to the Qing Dynasty, it is now a local tourist attraction on the outskirts of Changsha, Hunan. One of the more unique features is a building that was a former brothel with paintings of the courtesans. Vendors sell snack foods on the street and there are several restaurants. My recent visit was during the Chinese New Year and the streets were attractively decorated with lanterns and banners.See more..

3.0Langshan General Stone(1 review) - Interesting Rock Points of Interest & Landmarks • Geologic Formations
When one takes a bamboo-raft ride along the Fuyi River (Fuyi River is located in Lanshan Town of Xinning County in the Hunan Province), one could see various rock formations. The most distinctive is the General Stone that stands high up on the riverbank. At certain angles it looks like a Chinese general.See more..
3.0Songya Lake(1 review) - Nice place for sport and relax Bodies of Water • Parks • Gardens
Songya lake is one of the bigger lake in changsha. This is a wild place not far for the city were it is possible to meet some water wildlife. There are a 10km pedestrian and bike road all around the lake, for the pleasure of sport practicers for biking and jogging. There are also many places were it is possible to rent bikes for: 1 , 2, 3 or even more passagers... 2 white sand beaches have been build in the northern part of the lake, but to avoid during week-end unless to appreciate very busy places. It take 2 hours to walk around the lake or less than 1 hour with a bike. A nice place to find fresh air.See more..
3.0Jinjing Reservoir(1 review) - A mountain surrounded lake with various gardens on the banks Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Dams
I live close to Jinjing Reservoir, which is named as Jinjing Lake now. The lake will become a drinking water resource of the town, and the region so the environment is protected, no pollution to worry. In addition to that forest harvest is also restricted so the wild lives are coming back. The attractions include orchards on the bank which are amazing in spring when the peach flowers blossom. Government of Jinjing Town has built high quality road linking the major destinations of the town including JInjing Lake, with signs on the road to guide tourists to ride a bike. Renting bikes are free within two hours. There are two hundreds of bikes waiting for tourists to ride in different locations. Basically Jinjing Lake is a great place to explore the rural lifestyle of Changsha - you do not need to worry about the air pollution while biking in the peaceful green countryside, etc.See more..
