The photos were ready on time and looked neatly cared for and pasted on a beautiful retro frame. We then received the entire photo shoot by e-mail. Regional Natural History Museum of Plovdiv image
The museum is great, I really loved it. It has a lot of fascinating things to see. There is a wide variety of taxidermied animals in the scientific exposition of the museum, there is also a planetarium, a geology exhibit with various minerals, botanical exhibit, a tropic hall with many live butterflies. There is a bee hive with an active colony in it, how cool is that! In addition there is a terrarium with snakes, tarantulas, turtles & tortoises, a centipede, a Nile & Cayman crocodiles. A paleontology wing with many fossils of the mega fauna. And let us not forget the crown jewel of the establishment, the aquariums with many species of marine life from fresh water fish to sea creatures like squids, octupi, sea stars, jellyfish and many fish. I strongly recommend that everyone comes here, it is an experience worth the trip. See more..
  4. 5.0 Lift Sopot (21 reviews)
    - Paragliding to view Sopot from Top
    Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM Parasailing & Paragliding
    Lift Sopot image
This was the first extreme sport to start with in Lift Sopot, I was not exited first, in fact when it started closer to the jump and fly, i felt things dramatically changing, becoming more and more extorted. When I flew, the feelings were totally different, unbelievable, with a very professional instructor, had done many acrobatic rotations which in writing can't be transferred the true feelings. This extreme exercise requires, the well to do it, ONLY, grab your WELL and get the climbing chair and go for the jump, capture one of your best moments in your life with joys and smiles. Rating: 10/10 Difficulty: Not difficult, but overweight have to consult the instructor, while landing weight might transferred to the knees! See more..
  5. 5.0 Skynomad (15 reviews)
    - First class tution, kit, facilities and an incredible experience
Parasailing & Paragliding • Adrenaline & Extreme Tours
    Skynomad image
In April, I completed the BHPA EP and CP courses with SkyNomad and the whole experience was far beyond my wildest expectations. The facilities, the kit and general organisation were excellent. The training was first class but the dedication and enthusiasm of the staff was never ending - many thanks Nicky, Ivo and Hristo. In addition, I always felt in safe hands. The class progressed quickly and by day 4 we took the ski-lift up the mountain for the first 'proper' flight away from the training hill. When the weather was ideal locally we were simply driven to another location where the weather was flyable. In the course of 2 weeks I completed 36 flights most of which from a height of 1,450m. The accomodation was simple, clean and comfortable. There was also a laundry room and a kitchen but eating out was so cheap I couldn't be bothered to do any cooking. The whole expeience was so good I plan to visit again later in the year and also for a month next year. See more..

    Central Balkan National Park image
Central Balkan National park is a huge territory in the Stara Planina mountain. You can reach it through Kalofer, Troyan or Apriltsi. Place is very beautiful. The most interesting things to visit there are Botev peak and the waterfall Rayskoto Praskalo. For both there are marked routes which you can follow. Walking and hiking is a great pleasure there. Now in the summer the place is really amazingly beautiful. It is not easy to claim so high up but you can always stop to have a rest and turn back. Would recommend it strongly. See more..

    - Great organic winery
    Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Zagreus Winery image
The Kostadinov family set up the vineyards in the land of Vinica villade in the autumn of 1999. This area of the Upper Thracian valley is one of the most favorable regions in Bulgaria for growing grapes in terms of soil and climate. Currently, the winery owns a vineyard area of 120 hectares. The cultivated grapes are Mavrud, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Since the beginning we are very focused on making wines with unique character. Therefore the Mavrud is our most important grape. We have a lot of interesting wines out of this grape as well as the best wine - Vinica. The high quality and local wines is not the only what we care about. Since 2010 the vines have been cultivated organic. This aims to reach a higher wine quality in the spirit of protecting the surrounding nature See more..

Ivan Vazov is the author of one of Bulgaria's most significant history-oriented books "Under the yoke". A lot of information in the book is used nowadays as a historical reference and I strongly urge you to read it if you plan to live in Bulgaria. If you decide to also pay a visit to his home you'll gain in two different directions: 1. You'll get a really good understanding of what old Bulgarian houses look like; 2. If you're into writing and creativity you'll get a good understanding of how surroundings can influence a creative person. I personally absolutely loved this house and the little time I spent there... I wish I had more time - I would have sat on a bench to breathe in the peace and beauty of Ivan Vazov's home. See more..

  18. 4.5 Chiesa SS. Constantin e Elena (147 reviews)
    - The oldest church in the city
    Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
Chiesa SS. Constantin e Elena image
This is the oldest church in the city. It stands on the site of the massacre of 40 Christians of Plovdiv, committed in 304 under the Emperor Diocletian. Of course, now we see a modern church built in 1832. The most remarkable part of it is the bell tower, consisting of five tiers. Surrounded by a high stone wall, the Church of Saints Constantine and Elena is considered the most beautiful in Plovdiv. The murals in the church were made by the famous Bulgarian artist and icon painter Zachary Hristov Zograf (1810-1853). This is a monument of religion, history and culture of the city of Plovdiv, which must be seen with your own eyes. See more..

A bit out of the way from the main center and not many signs to reach it, but this is a nice attraction that you can do in less than an hour. There are panels of information in English and you walk on a glass screen over the mosaics. There is some interesting symbolism in the pictures in the mosaics, like the peacock. This basilica is from Roman times but a Christian church. See more..
  27. 4.5 House-Museum Hindlian (60 reviews)
    - blue exterior
Spent < 1 hour History Museums
    House-Museum Hindlian image
Only a garden separates (or connects) the Balabanov House with the Hindliyan House, the only mansion open to the public in old Plovdiv, whose outer walls are painted in blue. Otherwise it looks like a typical Ottoman and Bulgarian Revival style house with the protruding upper floor. The house was built in the 1830's for the Armenian trader Stepan Hindlyan, who had connections to India, thus his second name, deducted from 'Hindi'. The interior though is very European in its decoration and style. There are typical alcoves to be seen, here called 'Alafranga' (Frankish, thus European style) and also beautifully decorated ceilings. In my view this is the most attractive of all the mansions I have seen here. All the rooms have their own character. A special feature is the marble bathroom, with floor heating and cold and hot running water (quite advanced for its time). See more..
  28. 4.5 Cultural Center-Museum Trakart (57 reviews)
    - Best display of Roman mosaics in the Balkans
Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality Museums
    Cultural Center-Museum Trakart image
Be pleasantly surprised when you enter this cultural center/museum. The roman mosaics are preserved here in situ and are artfully presented. Unlike most museums, you will NOT find glass shards but complete figurines created by the Romans in ancient times. It's hard to argue against the fact that Roman artists originated the fine art of glass making. Watch an interesting 15 min video of the exhibited items. Take all the photos you want. Take your time reading the signage for each display, it's well worth an hour's visit. The staff are professional and very informative. See more..
