Cultural Center-Museum Trakart, Plovdiv Province, Bulgaria

Best display of Roman mosaics in the Balkans

Be pleasantly surprised when you enter this cultural center/museum. The roman mosaics are preserved here in situ and are artfully presented. Unlike most museums, you will NOT find glass shards but complete figurines created by the Romans in ancient times. It's hard to argue against the fact that Roman artists originated the fine art of glass making. Watch an interesting 15 min video of the exhibited items. Take all the photos you want. Take your time reading the signage for each display, it's well worth an hour's visit. The staff are professional and very informative.

A really nice place, very friendly staff
We discovered this place in internet and decided to visit it. We were welcomed by a very charming young lady, who was very helpful, kind and professional. She recommended us the combined ticket, because of the better rate. There are two Trakart locations very close from one another, both of them worth seeing. Suddenly all the chaotic outside world disappeared and we were able to enjoy a quiet time in the ancient world. It was an unforgettable experience, really a hidden gem. I highly recommend it!

    Mind blowing mosaics
Mind blowing mosaic This museum is just unique. It is the most fabulous Roman mosaic I have ever seen. The guided tour of the museum is very informative. There is a stunning collection of ancient glass art bowls. After the guided tour we watched a CD picturing these ancient glass bowls seen through a microscope. It just blew me away. The details in the glass work are incredible. There is also a collection of ceramic objects to study. I spend a lovely 1hour and 30 minutes admiring this great Roman site. The magic charms are also very interesting.
