  1. 5.0 Devetashka Cave (162 reviews)
    - Majestic natural phenomenon
    Caverns & Caves
    Devetashka Cave image
It is a magnificent cave with amazing views on the monumental halls with 2-3 big openings to the sky. Many birds and much more bats (further in the cave). The cave is easily accessible on foot (at least in the open part). A better parking should be made. See more..
  2. 5.0 Prohodna Cave (60 reviews)

Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Caverns & Caves
    Prohodna Cave image
Prohodna is the most beautiful karst cave in north central Bulgaria, located in the Iskar Gorge near the village of Karlukovo. The main sight here are the "two huge eyes" on the roof of the cave - the eyes of supernatural power. See more..
  3. 5.0 Skoka Falls (8 reviews)
    - Beautiful nature
Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 2-3 hours Waterfalls
    Skoka Falls image
Very beautiful with easy access waterfalls. They are two - big and small one. The gps takes you to a parking lot. From there is 500-600meter walking. Benches for relaxation. There is a hut exactly in-front of the waterfalls, can do picnic. It’s an easy trail, but I can recommend appropriate shoes (the mud and falling leaves are slippery) and extra layers (it’s shaded and cold). Highly recommending. See more..
  4. 5.0 Raysko Praskalo (4 reviews)
    - Trekking Paradise Sprinkler during Covid Pandemic
    Waterfalls
    Raysko Praskalo image
Paradise Sprinkler is the highest waterfall on the Balkan Peninsula. The waterfall is located in the central part of Stara Planina at the foot of the peak Botev and both are on the site of the Central Balkan National Park. Paradise Sprinkler is a famous natural landmark and as such attracts tourists from the country and abroad. The waterfall is a suitable destination for lovers of hiking, rock climbing, ecotourism, Paragliding and for all who just love the mountains and fresh mountain air. It is at its fullest during the summer months, so during this period it is most visited by tourists. See more..
  5. 5.0 Garvanitsa Cave (1 review)
    - Спуск в неизвестность
Spent 1-2 hours Caverns & Caves
    Garvanitsa Cave image
See more..
  6. 4.5 Krushunskiye Waterfalls (128 reviews)

    Spent 2-3 hours Waterfalls
    Krushunskiye Waterfalls image
I visited twice this area and I was impressed by his beauty. There are marked trails with bridges, benches and balustrades to make safe tours. Below you will find restaurants, hotels, villas, shops and even a pool. The paths are not heavy even for an old man. If you can, you can spend a whole day here, you will not get bored in the middle of the nature. After my opinion it is a strongy recommended destination. See more..

  10. 4.5 Geopark Iskar - Panega (15 reviews)
    - Beautiful nature, poorly organized
    Parks
    Geopark Iskar - Panega image
The path around Panega river is pretty picturesque wirh the rocks around and the milky blue river waters. Practically a few narrow bridges are built, picnic spots and parking area and that's all. To me it needs some more organization, especially at times, when social distancing is needed. Haven't seen such crowds and most of the times people are transpassing milimeters away from each other. One is decorated in 19th century style while the other is "newly" decorated, around 1950 - a local mathematician and musician lived in the house in mid-20th century. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth spending 30 minutes. Especially for kids it is very interesting to see how people leaved in the past. See more..

    Hisarya Fortress image
The final stop on our day long tour is the Fortress looking out over Lovech. We had a guide talking us through the layout of the fortress as it is mainly ruins so this gave us a better understanding and of its history. There's a lovely little dog that seems to make the fortress his home so keep an eye out for him. The mix of the interesting ruins and the views out over Lovech and the surrounding countryside make this well worth visiting and a great place to end our tour. See more..

These houses authentically display all the rooms of the house with genuine items from 19th and 20th century. The guide was very sweet and knew numerous languages but not English, yet tried this best to explain and help us. We enjoyed seeing the rooms decor and atmosphere, as people had actually lived there. I would recommend it but do research beforehand so you understand the history better. See more..

  24. 3.5 Roman Fortress Sostra (3 reviews)
    - Historic Roman site but apparently unloved
Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Ancient Ruins
    Roman Fortress Sostra image
This is a Roman fort and settlement dating from 147 AD. It's situated on the Roman road from Plovdiv (Roman philipopolis) and was important during Trajan's dacian wars in the area. It is partly excavated and restored but extremely overgrown and the signs are mostly only in Bulgaria, making it hard to understand. It appears no one has visited in a long time. This an important Roman site that should be better maintained for tourists and the good of the archeology. There are substantial remains and a lot of potential but you are fighting through waist high vegetation to to try to anything. Do your research beforehand to understand it better. See more..
