  1. 5.0 Avioschool (2 reviews)
    - Nice experience, flying with ultralight aircraft.
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM Air Tours
    Avioschool image
I had a great experience. Actually, it was matter of luck to meet them, but I am really very thankful that I had it. Anyway, I was very impressed with their knowledge and professionalism about flying the ultralight aircraft. Obviously, like everywhere in the aviation, for them the most important thing is the safety, but not the only one. It is up to you, if you just want to have a flight above the impressive landscapes or on another hand, if you want to have a first lesson of ultralight aviation, or you can get both of its. Definitely, I strongly recommend them. See more..
  2. 5.0 Todorini Kukli (1 review)
    - Stunning views!
Spent More than 3 hours Mountains
    Todorini Kukli image
As the route is fairly easy this is a perfect hiking trail even for beginners. The group of four peaks called Todorini kukli (which means Todora's distaffs) is easy accessible from Petrohan hut (about 2-2½ hours walk). There is another route starting at the Klisurski Monastery, but the trailblazing is not maintained as well as the path itself, so it's better to avoid it. There is third route from the town of Varshets, but it's longer and more difficult. Once you reach the peak, a stunning panorama is revealed before you - Peak Kom in the West, Vrachanski Balkan in the East and the towns of Berkovitsa, Varshets and Montana in the North. Tip - when the trail separates from the main route, continue to walk the Kom-Emine trail and climb from the east side of the peaks. See more..

  5. 4.5 History Museum (4 reviews)
    - Chiprovsti - it is a part from our very long and rich history
    Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
    History Museum image
This is a small museum as a building but it contains very rich collection from exhibits. You can see here history of Chiprovtsi and it is the same as Bulgarian history. This history was started from deep antiquity, Thracians, Rome empire, Byzantium empire, Bulgarian empire and Ottoman empire, Chiprovtsi's an armed uprising and Bulgarian Renaissance. But the biggest surprise these are Chiprovtsi's carpets and their manual fabrication. These carpets are inlisted in UNESKO's list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage!!! See more..

  9. 4.0 Castra ad Montanesium (1 review)
    - Excellent Example of a Roman Castra
Spent < 1 hour Ancient Ruins • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas
This ancient Roman fortress was built to protect the Roman city of Montanesium in the 2nd century AD. The remains you see today stretch along the side of the "Kaleta" hill. Just down the road is the "Lapidarium" which contains altars, pediments, and architraves of the former Roman town. As part of the fortress is an early Christian basilica that was heavily restored. The fortress has been modified slightly but one can tell the original elements of the fortress which gives a great impression of its former grandeur. This is also a place you can take your dog with you, which is what we did. As you walk through the ruins there is a path marked as it ascends the hill which makes it easy to navigate. Be careful if the rock stairs are wet as it could be slightly slippery. As you wander the site you can stumble across a toppled over marble altar which is a nice surprise. Other than that you will only find the remains of the structure. I did also stumble across a brick of the period with the makers stamp. You can see it and take a picture but please leave what you find on the site for others to enjoy. When you are in the middle of the hill you have a good view of the structure down below which is great for a picture. There is no cost to enter the site even though there is a shack at the entrance.
