    Having met lots of rude people in Bankso on this visit (lots more than my 1st trip, not sure what’s changed maybe due to the end of the season (still no excuse). It was so refreshing to walk in here by chance and be greeted with 2 big smiles (the couple who work behind the bar) Service is amazing, friendly culture and has quickly become our favourite bar. Drink prices are much more reasonable than Happy End. They play drinking games daily and have 2 hour happy hour daily. Couldn’t recommend more.     We came as a family grouping by bus from Bankso to Vihren hut to climb Vihren peak. There was a little confusion at the bottom about which route avoided the narrow part with ropes (which we had been warned about in the tourist info in town and were keen to avoid). In the end we worked it out and took the left hand fork which was a challenging and steep but perfectly doable climb. We were all climbing at varied speeds and managed different amounts of the climb, but it was truly spectacular, rewarding and a fabulous day all round. See more..

    We went to Sandanski on a day trip and after strolling around downtown we ended up in the town's park "Sveti Vrach". It was a real delight to see how good the park was maintained although some construction works of the alleys were going on. A lot of trees, some of them really very old, including species from the Mediterranean, America and the Far East. There are also playing grounds for children, enclosure with peacocks and other big birds, some ponds and an artificial lake with ducks, swans and geese.
