4.5Sea Fortress Suomenlinna(8.243 reviews) - Rich in history Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 2-3 hours Military Museums • Historic Sites • Military Bases & Facilities
The island is a nice place to explore and to get to know a little about Finnish History. It cost €4.50 for a one way ferry trip and the ride is less then 20 minutes. The ferry leaves once in every 40 minutes. Exploring the island should not take you more then 3 hours. Most of the restaurants there require reservations if you are going there on the weekend or public holidays so be mindful of this if you are planning to have a meal there however there’s a grocery store on the island where you can pick up supplies if you plan to have a picnic here. The church on the island is simple and beautiful and there are a few spots where you can enjoy beautiful sun sets. There’s a lot a beer brewing on the island which I did not visit. Worth the visit especially in the summer if you want a break from Helsinki city.See more..

It's a genuine home from the past the moment you stepped into it. Being Asian, its fascinating to see things that you previously saw from the TV. Huge paintings and statues symbolize status. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Gave me a small guide so that I know which room Im in, Very possible to do this on your own in maybe 30mins.See more..

4.0Fiskars Museum(33 reviews) - The interesting museum with a fascinating cafeteria Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • Historic Sites
A riverside ironworks was founded here in 1649. Nowadays this Fiskars Village in Fiskari (Raasepori) is full of design boutiques, smithies, restaurants etc. You even find some hotels, a lookout tower, an art exhibition and an arboretum trail there. However, people often miss Fiskars museum because it is situated a little off the beaten track (address Peltorivi 13). You shouldn't forget the museum. This tiny museum is very interesting. It is located in three houses. You may see sheep and bunnies in the garden. The museum has a nice cafeteria named Cafe Hammarbacken. Their selection may be very limited but all pastries are homemade, organic and absolutely fresh. The interior of the cafeteria is old (early 20th century), fascinating and very charming. Parking places are often very full in Fiskars Village. However, you may find free parking places next to this museum.See more..

3.5Ungern and Rosen Fortresses(16 reviews) - Two free bastions and Ehrenvärd's Trail Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites
The construction of Loviisan Linnake (Loviisa Fortress, bastions Ungern and Rosen) started in 1748. Nowadays Ungern is in better condition. The restoration of Rosen has also started. There are interesting plants around Rosen, e.g. introduces species (non-indigenous species, alien species) like war adventives and traffic adventives. There isn't very much to see in these bastions. If you only want to see them, it takes 10 minutes. However, I recommend that you walk along Ehrenvärd's Trail. The path is 2 kilometres long and there are information boards about the history of the fortress on the route. Texts are in Finnish, Swedish and English. It is easy to visit these bastions. You can walk there from the city center of Loviisa (the distance from the church of Loviisa is about one kilometre) or you can drive your car next to these bastions (write "Ungernin pysäköintipaikka" in your navigator). There isn't any admission fee and these bastions are open 24/7.See more..

3.5Suitian kartano(3 reviews) - A beautiful castle with lovely garden Historic Sites • Castles
A gorgeous medieval-based castle with a lovely garden and grave yard in the middle of beautiful Finnish countryside. The castle used to belong to famous nobel family Fleming who called the estate Svidja (Swedish) which transformed into the Finnish form of Suitia. The Fleming family had a lot of power and they established the first iron works in the whole Finland to the castle grounds. After Fleming the estate belonged to many nobel families in Finland. During the Finnish Civil War the Battle of Svidja took place here as the castle served as a fortress for the Whites. In the 21st Century the castle belonged to Helsinki University but after the University quit their work at the castle it was bought by famous Herlin family together with the owners of nearby Gårdskulla estate. The castle serves as a festive place and a congress house. Suitia together with nearby Siuntio Church are listed as Significant Cultural Heritage and Built Environments in Finland. See more..
Sjundby slott is a beautiful medieval manor house just a few minute drive from Siuntio town centre! The estate is owned privatly so it's important to note that it's not okay to just go and wander to the front yard!! The owner of the manor hosts visitors on special tours during summer months though! The estate has also a small café just outside the manor next to the bridge where they sell for example their own artesan ice cream! There's also a small pond after tje rapid stream where one can go for a swim! There's cyrillic wriring on the walls of one building next to the manor which tells the story of Soviet Occupation during Porkkala Naval Base era.See more..

5.0Areporten I Pickala(1 review) - One of a kind Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites • Monuments & Statues
After the Second World War the Soviet Union rented Porkkala area from Finland for 50 years. They built many triumphal archs around this area near important places but today only one remains. This arch is located near Pickala Manor House in the forest very near to the cobblestone road. The road was originally paved by cobblestones so it could carry the weight of Soviet armed vehicles. You can really sense history here! This is unique one of a kind place in Finland. To find the Triumphal Arch you need to head South from Siuntio centrum towards Pickala Manor House and the gas station ABC Pickala. Drive past ABC gas station towards Kirkkonummi and soon turn right on a narrow sand road. When the sand road comes to a small crossing with a cobblestone road, you're there. See more..
