I came here first in the late 60s and it was a revelation. I couldn't believe the architecture, the space, the trees, the utter beauty of the conception. Do you know, for more than 40 years I didn't go back, despite visiting Finland regularly? But this time I did - some friends had moved here. Their flat was in a visually stunning block opposite a row of poplar trees. Just a couple of hundred yards away was a small marina on an inlet from the sea. Trees and grass all about. I begged to have a walk round. It was just as fine as the first time. I can't get over the cultural buildings on the sides of the square lake. And the shopping centre is such a refreshing change from the norm too. That this concept was designed and built in the 50s and 60s, yet retains such modernity and freshness is a tribute to the architects and planners who had the vision to see the scheme through. I can't recommend a visit here strongly enough. See more..

There's not noticeable marketing for this place, which a surprise considering the quality of this place. Friendly service. There is a small cafeteria attached to the gardening shop. The main thing is the cottage garden with live animals. For this part there's a 8 euro entrance fee. See more..

Wow! Just wow! A real gem in Lohja, well worth the trip here. We visited the arboretum in May, when the magnolias were blooming. Even though not much else was blooming, the place was still astonishing. We will definitely visit again, there is always something that is in height of blooming, so you can return many times from may until end of September. The "ruska" time in fall (when leaves turn yellow and orange) is said to be beautiful. Entrance fee is 10e/adult and you can download the GLOPAS app to get a guided tour in your phone. The road is not signed, so put in the adress in your gps. See more..
