This centrally located park was planned by the famous architect Carl Ludvig Engel. It was opened in 1818. At the Market Square end of the park lies the historic restaurant Kappeli from 1867. Opposite Kappeli is Espa Stage, which offers summer concerts. Svenska Teatern (Swedish Theatre) is located at the Mannerheimintie end of the park. There are many statues in the park. The most famous is the statue of Johan Ludvig Runeberg located next to the legendary Kämp Hotel. In the summertime, the park is popular for picnics. 2. 4.0 Sibelius Park (1.641 reviews)
    - Romantic in the snow…
    Parks
    Sibelius Park image
Ok, so maybe I got lost in the moment, but trudging through the deep snow with my wife to get to the Sibelius Park and then the monument felt a little like something out of a fairytale or rom-com movie. Granted, it’s just a park near the water, and it has one interesting monument, but under the blue sky, in the freezing snow, this had a really romantic & enchanting feel to it and the fact there were only 3 or 4 other people at the monument meant it almost felt like our own private park! It might not be a must-see in Helsinki but if you have the time to take a quick tram in this direction I can highly recommend it, especially in the winter…seeing loads of kids sledding down hills was also super amusing! And if you get the chance to go to Cafe Regatta afterwards, do it, just a couple of mins walk away! See more..
  3. 4.0 Linnanmäki Amusement Park (790 reviews)
    - Always leave happy!
    Amusement & Theme Parks
    Linnanmäki Amusement Park image
Today we had visited as Hevisaurus played at the Peacock Theatre inside Linnanmäki. As always, we go check out some of the free rides (for the younger ones) as the boy loves them and he's too small for most things. Had a bit of fun before the concert. The theatre itself was nowhere near as small as I expected. Only though 200 people or so would be going...it was closer to 600! We had an amazing time. This band is just fantastic for the kids. Being a big metal fan, I loved it of course. They're great with the kids in the audience and put on a great 60/70 mins. The theme park itself is a tad expensive for some things but expected with the rising energy costs etc. If you're here on holiday, I'd say go. If you live here....you've got all summer so try get there. See more..

  6. 4.5 Kaivopuisto (257 reviews)
    - Large city park with flowers, monuments and playgrounds

    Kaivopuisto image
The area of Kaivopuisto is about 16 hectares. You find many statues, flowers, old trees, beautiful sitting places, Kaivohuone Night Club, two playgrounds and a public toilet there. If you walk to the seaside, you find some nice cafeterias, too. If the weather is hot, it is nice to walk in the shade of trees. See more..
  7. 3.5 Serena Water Park (255 reviews)
    - An old water park that needs a new beginning so badly
Spent More than 3 hours Water Parks
    Serena Water Park image
We did have a lot of fun because we don't always go to water parks. "The Crazy Race", "The Crazy River" or the "Black Hole" are cool and there is a lot to do. However I can't give five stars to a park that clearly needs a renovation and is unpleasant in many ways. Several infrastructures look and are so old. The pavement outside is just awful and hurt your feet. No queues for people who have purchased their tickets in advance, so you basically wait in the queue as if you had not purchased nothing in advance. Some slides are so old that you can see cracks and are super slow because they're not slippery anymore. The stairs to the top of some slides are in an old metal and not really inviting. Really they need to make it new and pretty again. In that sense it is super expensive for what it is. See more..
  8. 4.0 Kuusijärvi (118 reviews)
    - Romantic Lake & Smoky Sauna
    Sunday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Parks
    Kuusijärvi image
Probably one of my favourite experiences to try the real smokey saunas. Both locals and tourists favour this place with its canteen and health facilities, such as electric and traditional wooden fired saunas. After the heat you can dive in the ice cold water in the designated and monitored area just by the lake. Health enthusiast, couples, families... if you are new in Finland, this place is a must visit. The closest real smoky sauna from Helsinki. See more..

  12. 4.5 Ekenas Archipelago National Park (11 reviews)
    - Beautiful Archipelago Tour
    National Parks
    Ekenas Archipelago National Park image
With Finland consisting of so many little islands, it is humbling to do a tour through what feels like an enormous area but in reality is still a tiny part of the country. Gorgeous way to spend a few hours on the water, passing by pristine forests, little cabins and piers, and seeing a variety of birds that inhabit the area. We went to the pier area to buy tickets around 5:40pm (managed to catch one of the later tours, but check time tables in advance so you don't miss out). It was 25 euros per person for 3 hours. You can have food and drinks on the boat as well if you want to make it a dinner your. Bring a jacket, it's cold on the water in the month of July, but they had little blankets onboard as well if you don't mind using little communal fleece blankets to wrap up (they seemed completely clean). 13. 4.5 Sipoonkorpi National Park (10 reviews)
    - You will not experience this kind of nature 30 minutes drive away from the centre of the capital in any other country
    National Parks
    Sipoonkorpi National Park image
Sipoonkorpi national park area forms the core of the forest massif just 30 minutes drive away from the centre of the capital of Finland. There are lots of other wooded areas outside of the actual park boundaries as well. You can begin anywhere, there are marked trails as well as wilderness where only the Maps application is your friend. It's good to have a knowledgeable local showing you the way. It's a heaven for mushroom and berry picking, experiencing ancient forests that have been spared from logging and nature at its best. See more..
