This centrally located park was planned by the famous architect Carl Ludvig Engel. It was opened in 1818. At the Market Square end of the park lies the historic restaurant Kappeli from 1867. Opposite Kappeli is Espa Stage, which offers summer concerts. Svenska Teatern (Swedish Theatre) is located at the Mannerheimintie end of the park. There are many statues in the park. The most famous is the statue of Johan Ludvig Runeberg located next to the legendary Kämp Hotel. In the summertime, the park is popular for picnics. During Christmas time, the park is beautifully lit. See more..

We walked up after seeing the cathedral which is only a stone's throw away. It's a nice walk up and when at the top you have some nice views of the city below. Can imagine it would be lovely in summer for picnics etc. Worth going up and taking a few pics :) See more..

We travelled to this lovely town from Helsinki by bus. It was fast (45 minutes) and comfortable. We walked in narrow streets among the old wooden houses and saw the famous church. We admired the traditional dark-red houses on the river bank. It was beautiful and peaceful. In the centre we saw the nice Town Hall Square. I think it’s a must-see attraction. See more..
