Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple and Zen Gardens image
Best to go see this on a weekday morning so it is not so crowded. Beautiful cave with Buddhist statues that you walk right through to a beautiful pond and well kept gardens. Not many stairs. Can rent a paddle boat 12 r for two people for 30 minutes. Bit of fun, but can't go far before you have to turn around. Allow an hour for total visit. Shame about the huge concrete factory behind that has taken away half the mountain and spoiled the view. See more..
  2. 4.0 Perak Tong Cave Temple (457 reviews)
    - Must go and fun!

    Perak Tong Cave Temple image
Perak Cave Temple is located around 15 minutes ride from downtown Ipoh. The natural cave is the temple itself with statues and wall paintings of Buddha and Bodhisattvas. Therefore, the temple earns the name of "Dunhuang in the South". Following the passage of the cave, it will lead you to the apex of the hill where you can enjoy the views around. A peaceful and culture-rich religious site to visit. Recommend it. See more..
  3. 3.5 Sam Poh Tong Cave Temple (327 reviews)
    - Not well-maintained, still has its charms.

Sam Poh Tong Cave Temple image
We were told it is one of the oldest cave temples here so we had to come take a look. Note that they close quite early at 230pm. Beautiful temple but the locals told us it has not been well-maintained. Much overgrown vegetation and dim at some point, but it still has its charm here. Grab a bowl of chopped tomatoes to feed the tortoises at the other outlet of the cave temple. We spent /497'd 30-45 minutes here. Best to see other caves in the area to make your trip worthwhile. 4. 4.0 Tua Pek Kong Temple (118 reviews)
    - A must see when in Sitiawan!

    Tua Pek Kong Temple image
This is a great way to spend a morning in Sitiawan. The temple is tucked away in a magnificent spot next to the ocean. On arrival, you are greeted by large stone statues that tower over the site. The temple is beautiful inside and has many areas to explore. There are fountains, statues and a beautiful garden. There are toilets, plenty of parking, gift shops and even a coffee shop. It gets very hot during the day, so be sure to bring a hat and sunscreen if visiting around midday! We have visited a number of times and have enjoyed it every time! See more..
  5. 3.5 Ling Sen Tong Temple (65 reviews)
    - A beautiful colorful Taoist Temple
    Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites
    Ling Sen Tong Temple image
This Taoist temple is located next door to Nam Thean Tong and Sam Poh Tong just off Jalan Gopeng on the southern outskirts of Ipoh. The name is literally translated as the Rock of Heavenly Spirits and is quite different from its neighbour Nam Thean Tong who shares the same grounds. The main compound of the temple is adorned with many statues of various designs of animals, deities, and other characters from the Chinese folklore. The garden in front is decorated with colorful statues of characters from the Chinese mythology such as the Monkey King from the classic tale Journey to the West. I would not classify this as a cave temple cos where the prayer hall is built against the mountain the hollow structure is very shallow (unless there is a hidden part which I did not find) and is more like an overhang of the hill Gunung Rapat which looms above the temple. The temple is opened from 9am to 6pm and admission is free. See more..

    Ipoh Kallumalai Murugan Temple image
visited the Temple for the evening prayers which starts at 6,30 PM and will approx 30 mins for the evening prayer ritual to be done ( sayaraksha poojai ) Sri Murugan is the presiding Deity . Flower shop just outside the temple for your convenience in case you need garlands to offer , amble carpark which was good and saw a security personal walking around the carpark in the late evening- dont try calling them or using the address on their web for your GPS, it will take you down Town and not to the Temple ( believe that's their registered address - use search for places of worship on your GPS and pick up the site location. Big grounds. Interesting gardens and temple, including an underground “hell” which was beautifully created. The view from the top is great. Unfortunately this temple is not well maintained. Colors faded. Gardens are not well kept. Quite a sad state for a beautiful place. See more..

    - what a unique-looking ancient mosque

    Ihsaniah Iskandariah Mosque image
The Ihsaniah Iskandariah Mosque or simply known as "Ihsaniah Mosque" was built in 1936 by the late Sultan Iskandar Shah, the 30th Sultan of Perak and officially opened in 1938. Its design was inspired by the Istana Kenangan which now converted as Perak Royal Museum in Bukit Chandan. The walls of the mosque was beautifully decorated with a traditional Perakian art of "Kelarai" in White, Black and Yellow which are the colors of the Perak's flag. Although ts location is a bit further from town, this mosque is definitely worth to visit during your time in Kuala Kangsar. See more..
