  1. 4.5 Ubudiah Mosque (92 reviews)
    - Beautiful in Gold

    Ubudiah Mosque image
Considered one of the most beautiful mosques in Malaysia, it was also designed by the same designer who designed the Ipoh Railway Station and also the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station. Construction of this beautiful mosque was completed in 1917. What we feel makes this mosque unique is the contrast of the mosque with its golden domes and Italian marble against the blue sky especially on a sunny day like the day we visited. Parking is aplenty with an open carpark directly in front of the mosque. Our full review is on instagram (@monk3yseendo) See more..

    First Galleria image
I visited First Galleria with the intention of giving support to a friend who did a photographic exhibition of Lake Taiping. Indeed, I actually got more than what I expected I learned a lot on what "first" in Malaysia. The guide at First Galleria, with a miniture of Taiping map infront of her and us tourist surrounding, pointed a replica of places which is the "First" in Malaysia. It is such a history learning journey that you can get from this place. I remembered all those names in the History book that we learned during my secondary school days. Look no further when you are in Taiping. This is a Must visit before you head to other places of interest to visit in Taiping. You will not regret. See more..
  3. 4.0 Pasir Salak Historical Complex (12 reviews)
    - Awesome Historical Complex
    Historic Sites
    Pasir Salak Historical Complex image
First of all, this huge place is located in the interior. You have to drive past lots of Malay traditional wooden houses. Secondly, it is a beautifully maintained complex. The garden is pretty with flowers everywhere. Moreover, it is beside the Perak River. Serene. Thirdly, please do visit The Time Tunnel of Pasir Salak. No it is not a tunnel! Pay RM4 and enter the building with the sundial in front of it. No photo-taking in there but the place has been done up with a series of dioramas. Interesting to see the scenes and to read up on history. Lastly, do support this historical complex. It is quite unique that such a complex is in the middle of nowhere. I really would like to see more visitors there so that this complex won’t die off in the future. See more..

    Castle of King Billah image
Worth a visit! This castle or better known as Istana Bilah is located in Papan. When you reach Papan, drive through the little lane between the school and park inside. Easier for you to walk to the castle. There are empty wooden houses all around the castle. Its garden is filled with bougainvillas. Many would say this castle is haunted! See more..
  7. 3.0 Old Port Weld Railway Station Signboard (1 review)
    - A bit of history

Old Port Weld Railway Station Signboard image
As the Malaysians like to say, Taiping is the city of firsts. This sign in old Port Weld is the location of the former Port Weld Railway station that used to link this town with Taiping. Which was also the first railway in Malaysia. The railway link is long gone, but it’s nice to see for a bit of history. See more..
  8. 4.0 Sultan Idris Shah Mansion (1 review)
    - Mysterious Mansion
    Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites
    Sultan Idris Shah Mansion image
Those who have visited Ubudiah mosque in Kuala Kangsar might have seen this huge old Malay house (rumah agam) just a few meters away from the mosque. We could not get inside the house as it was locked (from inside), but there's a new signage 'Baitul Annur' placed on top of the main door. It has big, yellow front stairs but it is detached from the 'double storey house' - which we think it is uncommon for Malay traditional house architecture. We might be wrong ;) Only two weeks after the visit, we found out through online that the mansion belongs to the family of Sultan of Perak, Sultan Idris Mursyidul Adzam Shah back in the 1910s! Need to verify this info, though. If you are travellers with paranormal interest or you like history stuff, perhaps this is a good place for you to visit. (Check out some photos of the house on my profile page. This is a new place I just added on Tripadvisor list) See more..
