3.5Ipoh Railway Station(750 reviews) - Nice looking building Points of Interest & Landmarks
This is the main train station in Ipoh. I’m told that it’s affectionately known by the locals as the Taj Mahal of Ipoh. I can only guess that the locals have never actually seen the real thing since it looks nothing like the Taj. Architecturally, the station is quite pretty in white and in a mix of styles typical of the British colonial period. There are elements of Indo-Islamic on the roof, Mudejar in the arches and renaissances throughout the building. While not as beautiful as the Taj, it’s a pretty building in its own right.See more..
4.0Art of OLDTOWN(472 reviews) - Good for an afternoon stroll on your Ipoh stopover towards Penang/Cameron... Points of Interest & Landmarks
We only had 1 night here on our way to Cameron so upon arrival after a shower we headed into Old Town. Similar as Penang but less vibrant, I guess the signs of recession also are hitting Malaysia. Anyway we had and enjoyable walk and were able to take some good shots.See more..
4.0Perak Tong Cave Temple(457 reviews) - Must go and fun! Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Caverns & Caves • Religious Sites
Perak Cave Temple is located around 15 minutes ride from downtown Ipoh. The natural cave is the temple itself with statues and wall paintings of Buddha and Bodhisattvas. Therefore, the temple earns the name of "Dunhuang in the South". Following the passage of the cave, it will lead you to the apex of the hill where you can enjoy the views around. A peaceful and culture-rich religious site to visit. Recommend it.See more..

4.0Ipoh Mural Art Trail(149 reviews) - Discovered most without a tour Spent More than 3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks

3.5Birch Memorial Clock Tower(118 reviews) - Small clock tower Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Observation Decks & Towers
The Birch Memorial Clock Tower is a clock tower located close to the main railway station of Ipoh and the town hall of the city. The tower was created as a memorial to James Birch, who was the British resident of Perak during the British Empire. As clock towers go, this is a standard four sided tower with each face displaying a clock. The tower is painted in a simple black and white scheme, and interestingly has four spires surrounding the tower rather than on the tower itself. Most of the things to see in Ipoh are around this area, so it’s worth a quick diversion.See more..

4.0Foo Lin Kong Temple(72 reviews) - Beautiful Temple at Beautiful Island Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
The temple is quite big, but it's serene, nice, and calming. It has mini great wall of China that being built circling the hill at the back of the temple, which at the end, lead you to a mini fish and turtle ponds. The view is really beautiful from the top (highest point of the temple, where the word stone located) you can see the beach and the sea, as well as the entire landscape of the temple. The temple also the oldest religious site at the island, as well as the biggest Buddhist temple. It's worth of your visit if you spend more than a day at the island, and during my visit, there is a cute dog relaxing around, too :)See more..
3.5Lumut Water front(49 reviews) - Beautiful and peaceful park by the water Spent More than 3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Lumut Waterfront is a beautiful area to walk, run, picnic or play. There's a walking trail along the water, many children's playgrounds and a large grassed area. The area is very scenic and peaceful. The area probably needs a few repairs and upgrades (especially around the former yacht club). Toilets and parking are easily accessible. Toilets are 50sen per use. Parking is via Perak parking coupon. It's a great place to visit, perfect for the whole family.See more..
Whenever i drive around Taiping I will always pass by this new clock tower , it’s newly painted now .. this is not the signature and classic Taiping clock tower though !See more..
It's basically a home industry for dried seafood, from fish to squid in any type of textures and combination and flavors :) You can try their products first before deciding which you're going to buy, my suggestion is either the red or original squid with sugar and cod fish with seaweed. It's so yummy :) They also imported their products to Hongkong and Canada, so don't worry for the product quality. Bonus part: the view from heir 'private pier' is breathtaking :D The staffs also friendly and they can help you to vacuum seal the products that you want to bring home :)See more..

A little known history was made known to our whole town in recent months. And, our little airstrip is still a little airstrip but with an important piece of history tagged on it. Amelia Earhart made a refuelling stop in our little airfield on her solo journey around the world. This little airstrip is called Tekah Airport. 7 June 1937 was the day she dropped in in our town called Taiping or more famously The Raintown, Rain tree town. To commemorate her short appearance, a mural was put up on the side of the building at the junction of Jalan Taming Sari and Jalan Abdul Jalil. You could enjoy this piece of art from across the road with no obstruction. See more..
This botanical garden is listed ( I think wrongly) on Tripadvisor as Taman Botani Perak - a lot of the visitor reviews are listed under that heading. Whatever you want to call it, it is a lovely place to visit and stroll around. Well kept, good pathways to walk on - a variety of local tropical plants though nothing too exotic. Good parking - very quiet. certainly worth a visit - especially if you want some peace and quiet.See more..
This little landmark of Taiping is both a clock tower and the location of the tourist information office. The tower is unusual and owes its design as part of a larger square fort that's now gone. The building has served as a police station and fire station in the past, but is now a tourist office, which is currently closed due to the Movement Control Order.See more..

3.0Hua Seng Kong Temple(1 review) - Interesting but not well maintained! Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites • Monuments & Statues
Big grounds. Interesting gardens and temple, including an underground “hell” which was beautifully created. The view from the top is great. Unfortunately this temple is not well maintained. Colors faded. Gardens are not well kept. Quite a sad state for a beautiful place. See more..
As the Malaysians like to say, Taiping is the city of firsts. This sign in old Port Weld is the location of the former Port Weld Railway station that used to link this town with Taiping. Which was also the first railway in Malaysia. The railway link is long gone, but it’s nice to see for a bit of history.See more..
5.0Ihsaniah Iskandariah Mosque(1 review) - what a unique-looking ancient mosque Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings • Religious Sites
The Ihsaniah Iskandariah Mosque or simply known as "Ihsaniah Mosque" was built in 1936 by the late Sultan Iskandar Shah, the 30th Sultan of Perak and officially opened in 1938. Its design was inspired by the Istana Kenangan which now converted as Perak Royal Museum in Bukit Chandan. The walls of the mosque was beautifully decorated with a traditional Perakian art of "Kelarai" in White, Black and Yellow which are the colors of the Perak's flag. Although ts location is a bit further from town, this mosque is definitely worth to visit during your time in Kuala Kangsar.See more..
