The board walk has just been replaced and really is something to experience. Such a good job, and walking through the mangrove forest is a real treat on a sunny day. A wonderful experience and well worth the price of admission - RM15 per person. See more..

We went on the boat around 630pm. It was my family and a random couple so it wasnt too crowded in the boat. The uncle that drove us around was very helpful. Despite his age, he managed to explain well any stories related to Teluk Intan. See more..

The tourism over in Port Weld / K. Sepetang is booming. We went on a hired busload of 30 pax. The charcoal factory was amazing. $60 per whole group of us with briefing on how charcoal is made. The coffee making factory is beside the bungalow of Dr Sun Yat Sen while he was here to gather funds back to China . His mansion has photos of him and his Malaysian mistress. The fireflies watching was fun . We embarked on it at 8.30pm on a clear night. The boat can accomodate 30 of us seated in benches . The mangrove swamp lit up as we watch the fireflies mating...it's like Christmas! Worth a visit See more..

    River Cruise Teluk Intan image
Teluk Intan is famous for its leaning tower and that's the only thing we know, until we stumbled across River Cruise Teluk Intan. During the river cruise we discovered that there are a lot more to Teluk Intan than just the old tower and this is not surprising considering that Teluk Intan used to be one of major ports in colonial Malaya. River Cruise Teluk Intan is a local business that promotes the town, not just taking passengers to upriver and back. The helmsman, Nazri is well-versed in local history and nature. He shared plenty of small details even during the first 5 minutes of the cruise. He even stopped the boat to catch udang geragau or small river shrimps by the river bank and plucked some Berembang fruits for our view. The highlight of the cruise is of course Pulau Bangau or Crane Island which is the habitat of at least 4 species of the cranes. We couldn't go near enough due to low tide and the risk of getting stuck on the sand bars. I recommend taking the high tide cruise which is around 4.00-5.00 p.m. when the boat can actually sail through Pulau Bangau for closer view of the birds. See more..
