New Bridge, Andalucia, Spain

Stunning bridge and views!

The Puente Nuevo, or New Bridge, in Ronda is breathtaking! The architecture of it is impressive, and it looks like it is just clinging to the sides of the 300+ feet deep ravine. You can even see the ruins of the original bridge on the other side. The river runs through and it is very beautiful. I highly recommend visiting the bridge and the cute town of Ronda and then having a cocktail at one of the cute little bars.

Ronda, a must visit place in Andalusia
See my comments at the uploaded pictures. This is a truly amazing place to visit in Andalusia. Go the touristic route and keep walking towards the city gates and return underneath the city walls to cross back on the other bridge to enjoy stunning views.

Showing my age, I thought this town was called Rhoda, like the lady in the Mary Tyler Moore show, the 1st time I heard of it. I know better now and we have come back to visit the town with friends and relatives regularly. It's a pueblo blanco or white town and attracts visitors for the picture perfect old buildings. Irish visitors are interested to know that the town dates back to the Celts. The most photographed feature is this " new bridge" was completed in 1793. It is said that around 50 builders died in the 40 years it took to finish it.Part of the bridge was used as a prison during the Civil war and depending on who you listen to, some prisoners from the Civil war were thrown to their death into the rocky gorge below. Try to get down into the gorge itself for a different perspective.
