Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park image
We made a LBJ historical visit that brought us to the parks in Stonewall and Johnson City and to the Library in Austin. It was a great trip. We were in town for Christmas lights and a tour of LBJ’s boyhood home. Not only were the parks and library fantastic, the Rangers went above and beyond. When my youngest left his stamp book in the visitor center in Stonewall, a Ranger texted a picture of it to a Ranger in Johnson City and when we stopped back in to that visitor center were able to arrange to get it back. Westcave Cellars Winery & Brewery image
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of taking a friend and close family member to a wine tasting at Westcave Cellars. It was my first experience at their new location. It was a perfect day. As always all of the wine is masterfully crafted by Allan and Margaret. The tasting room had 360 degree views due to all the “clear as glass” windows. In addition to tasting unique, award winning wines and snacks, we met Whitney our server. Whitney was totally enjoyable. She described the wines perfectly and coached us on “what to look for” in each sip. She nailed the nuances of tastes each variety of wine afforded us. It was a great experience. We learned a lot. We were there for quite a while. It was a memorable time of celebration, fun and outstanding wine, food and service. Thank you “Westcave Cellars” & our new friend Whitney. We are eager to come again with our husbands. (And we are eager to try the beer as well!!!!) Murphy T. See more..

This is an outstanding winery. The wines are made from California grapes. We found the quality of the wines to be among the best in the area. A tasting of either 4 whites or 4 reds was $30. The majority of the wines were ones that we enjoyed enough to buy bottles. Tom as the host was very friendly and informative. Our appetizer and pizza were both very tasty and worth the visit on their own. This place is highly recommended. See more..

I was just driving through Johnson City and thought I'd stop to get a drink. I couldn't find a place and most things were closed because it was Monday, but I saw this interesting place on the corner. Just outside, there were many things I'd like to have, so I thought I'd peek in. An hour later, I finally left, having been in awe of the great artists they represent and the lovely finds they've acquired. What an eye! I hear certain Austin movie stars are known to pop in now and then... See more..

  23. 4.0 Vinovium (18 reviews)
    - Great wine
    Sunday: 2:00 PM - 9:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Vinovium image
I'm very picky about my Texas wineries. Many of them only have sweet wines and others just havent figured out what they are doing yet. That being said, there are some good ones now. I love Hawks Shadow and Calais. Vinovium is different though. It's fun and playful while still taking its wine very seriously. They have unique blends that you won't find anywhere else. They also purchase grapes from all over the world so you can try many different varietals side by side. I bought a keg of wine here for my daughter's wedding, and it was a big hit. If you're in the area you really should try it, but go in with an open mind. See more..
