We made a LBJ historical visit that brought us to the parks in Stonewall and Johnson City and to the Library in Austin. It was a great trip. We were in town for Christmas lights and a tour of LBJ’s boyhood home. Not only were the parks and library fantastic, the Rangers went above and beyond. When my youngest left his stamp book in the visitor center in Stonewall, a Ranger texted a picture of it to a Ranger in Johnson City and when we stopped back in to that visitor center were able to arrange to get it back.See more..
We stopped here as a planned stop on a long road trip. Interesting tour of the home, and nice displays in the Visitor Center. The house tour was about 20-30 minutes and really a great presentation by the NPS ranger. We love history.See more..
3.0James Polk Johnson Building(1 review) - Very interesting history and very well maintained Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
The James Polk Johnson Building is a historical building on the square. It was built by Johnson City’s founder James Polk Johnson. It is current a bank. When the Blanco county seat moved to Johnson City in 1890, the building was a temporary courthouse and jail. President Lyndon Johnson had an office there. The building has been banks, general stores, hotels, restaurants and business offices. Pretty cool to see on the outside and it is very well maintained.See more..
