Lyndon B. Johnson Boyhood Home, Texas, United States

4.5 (196 reviews) Monday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent Ranking #5 in Johnson City Historic Sites

Great site. Worth the time.

We stopped here as a planned stop on a long road trip. Interesting tour of the home, and nice displays in the Visitor Center. The house tour was about 20-30 minutes and really a great presentation by the NPS ranger. We love history.

Beautiful example of a very simple Victorian structure
If you are short on time, and want to get a "feel" for the history of Johnson City, pull off 290 at the directional sign and stop here. Sadly, the building is frequently closed to visitors, but (to me) the opportunity to see a really well designed and attractive little house is well worth the stop! The building is well maintained, which is a daily challenge for framed Victorian cottages. Take time to view the attention to to detail that went into the building. I particularly like the trim work, shutters, and the decorative tin gingerbread. If you have more time, the Victorian court house is a very simple one, but attractive.

Love the history of this area
Johnson City was not named after our President, but after his Uncle that settled in this area before President Johnson was born...nice walking trail around old ranch...good place for kids to roam/run.
