    Good Time and Fun Area
We stayed at the Hillside Acres Retreat between Dripping Springs and Johnson City. That would be my first recommendation. We went to several wineries. I liked the wine at Woodrose and Becker the most. It is also more realistically priced. I was disappointed at the Texas Hill Winery. Paid $25 for Kick Butt Cab and saw it at the grocery store for $17. The wine we tasted was ok but not worth $30 to $40 that some were asking. Woodrose had an excellent patio and was our favorite. Our least favorites were Chisolm Trail, Perdnoles , and William Chris. I should say my taste is for a drinkable semi dry wine like a Merlot or a Chianti. While you are there, go to Luckenbach and then eat lunch at Hondos in Fredericksberg. You order at the bar and then pick up family atmosphere. Nice patio and good music live. I had the Lip Burning Burger but should have had the one step higher. It wasn't that hot but really good and huge. The chips with parmesan cheese were great. The shopping in Fredericksberg was by far the best.

This is a page for the Texas Wine Trail and not a winery!
The Hill Country wineries provide an opportunity for a pleasant to great afternoon of wine tasting. But you should do some homework if you want the best experience possible and the Texas Wine Trail web site is one of several good places to get information. The reviews that relate to a specific unnamed winery are inappropriate for this page.
