    Adventure Apes image
3 of us hired out snowshoeing gear for a 5 day expedition in Oulanka National Park. We drove up from Helsinki and we were greeted by the amazingly helpful Heidi. She really made sure our gear was good for us and even said we could phone her up up if we had any problems during the trip! We also hired a top quality sledge for pulling all our gear: way better than carrying a massively heavy backpack! When we returned after 5 days in the wilderness, Heidi and her family greeted us and insisted we had breakfast... for free! It was one of the best breakfast I ever had! A school was there and were doing some speeches for concluding their trip to Adventure Apes. Heidi have us a shout out to which we received a standing ovation! haha amazing. Thanks you so much guys. We definitely recommend adventure apes and are planing to go back for another adventure with them. Rachel, Dan & Chris See more..

    Rauhaniemi Beach and Sauna image
I took at look at this place last August and people were coming out from it and having a nice cold swim in the lake. It was cold weather then and i just manged to pop my feet in. I was there again this February as I had to see for myself that people go from the sauna and into the lake through an ice hole...and yes they do. Probably the Finnish people do not find this strange at all, but I was wrapped up in loads of layers and would not even contemplate it! However, it was a Saturday afternoon and was "buzzing " with willing customers, there was a roaring trade and the car park was full. Not for me, but very attractive for many. A really cool place to visit even if only to spectate. See more..

  18. 4.5 St Olaf's Church in Tyrvaa (22 reviews)
    - A unique medieval church
    Churches & Cathedrals
St Olaf's Church in Tyrvaa image
Tyrvään Pyhän Olavin kirkko is a very beautiful medieval stone church, built on a scenic location by the lake according to typical Finnish church architecture of the middle ages. However, what makes it completely unique is the interior and the story; the church was burnt to the ground in the 1990’s – and re-built by the community by hand. Instead of setting up replicas of the destroyed interior, two contemporary artists were given the task of re-creating medieval church paintings in contemporary style, but with medieval motifs and purpose. The interior paintings make this church a unique masterpiece. PRO TIP: In the summer season, bring a picnic and enjoy the lovely location of the church. You can also arrive by boat. PRO TIP2: There are a lot of other historic and interesting things to see and do in Sastamala! See more..
