   There was a golf course but there isn't one now. It used to be on the southern entrance of the city but existed only as a show place for a previous mayor who, it seems, liked the concept of golf. Karamay is under a blanket of snow from November till late March so golf didn't ever catch on. The new mayor likes badminton and has built the greatest looking badminton building you could ever hope to see. The old golf course location is now covered by detached housing for the rich people.    Not a lot here except a pendulum denoting the centre of Central Asia. Everything is a bit tired-a few displays to brighten up an otherwise uninspiring spot in the middle of a dry plain. Try to rent bikes and cycle out here-at least you will then get a little bit of a feel for the place in context. See more..
