4.0Orange Island Park(426 reviews) - Great outdoors activity for a lazy afternoon Parks • Game & Entertainment Centers
Having just enjoyed an amazing lunch, we wanted to walk it off and this was the perfect place. Despite it being really cold, we loved to see all the activity in the park - perfect to see so many people having fun and enjoying a winter’s afternoon. The island contains a myriad of places to explore, from bamboo gardens, to sculpture gardens to little grottos and scenic lakes. We caught the subway over for 2RMB and then leisurely strolled to the end of the island to check out the young Chairman Mao statue. We decided to catch the miniature train back (40RMB) - something really popular to do, but bye long queue moved quickly. See more..

5.0Zhuzhou Fantawild Dreamland(31 reviews) - Great way break up trip with young family Amusement & Theme Parks
Fantawild Dreamland was a great theme park for me and my 6 year old who was a bit tired of natural parks and foreign food. It was a weekday and the park was empty which was great as there were no lines and we went in everything multiple times. We had never heard of the Boonie Bears before the trip to China but now they are a favourite. The attractions are comparable to Disneyland Hong Kong. All rides were in Mandarin but we did not care.See more..

4.0Tianxin Park(17 reviews) - Relaxing stroll at a nice park! Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Architectural Buildings • Parks
The Tianxin park surrounds the Tianxin Pavilion. I used the metro to arrive at this place. It is just a short distant walk from the station. There were some art and sculptures in the park which have explanation to it and you could take your time to read it. After visiting the Pavilion, I ended up on the other side of the park where it was much cooler with many trees around it. You can see a lot of old folks playing cards there and some were taking lunch breaks in the park as well. There was a part of it with huge large stones carved with different famous Chinese people on it. Nice place to visit, if you need a break after long walks or after visiting other tourist spots. There is no large crowds here, so it's just nice for a relaxing stroll at a nice park!See more..
4.5Dongjiang Lake Scenic Area(15 reviews) - The natural beauty of misty Dongjiang Lake Bodies of Water • Historic Walking Areas • National Parks
Dongjiang Lake, Zixing County, Hunan Province, is 280 meters above sea level , and classified by China as a National five-star tourist attractions. There is state ecological protection over the area. Only a few boats are allowed to adorn the lake for tourists to take photographs. The lake waters are clear, calm, peaceful, and drinkable. The water quality meets the state-level requirement for human consumption. After a brief rain, the air seems fresher than ever. We got up early in the morning to watch the boat with the burning light. Great scenic water and mountain views in all directions. We came to Dongjiang Lake after our sightseeing in Gao Xiling, Chenzhou, Hunan Province.See more..

4.5Changde Bin Lake Park(9 reviews) - Уголок умиротворения и спокойствия в шумном городе Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Architectural Buildings • Parks
See more..
This place lies in shaoshan which is mao ze dong's hometown. He had planned to retire in the residential apartment here in this park which is also called water dripping cave ( di shui dong). He only spent a couple of years because of political reasons he could not spend his last few years here. Over here at the apartment, you get to see the conference hall where he met other political leaders. Also his residential room, bathroom, office and even a bomb/radiation shelter room. Clearly he must be afraid of any attacks hence he built that shelter. Worth a visit to this supposedly good feng shui place to spend last few years of his life.See more..

4.0Taohuayuan National Park(6 reviews) - Taoist oriented commune with nature! National Parks • Forests
Enjoyed a guided 2 hour tour, but didn't have enough time to take in all that I wanted. I will go back to enjoy what I missed. The park-like setting has Taoist temples and exhibits and easy hiking trails and walkways. To get the most out of it I would suggest two days, staying overnight in the park. Go and unwind. It will be crowded during peach blossom time and hot and humid in the summer. But there are lots of shady paths. I was there in June. It's a good place to learn something about Taoism as you enjoy the relaxing environment.See more..
4.0Jin'eshan Park(5 reviews) - Popular Local Park Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Parks • Forests
This is a nice park surrounded by grand tall trees. Entry is free. There is even a bamboo forest. The star of the park is a flying-style roof 3-storey tower at the top of the hill fronting the main entrance. You need to go through a long flight of steps to reach the tower. Within the park there is walking path leading to an amusement park. There is also swing bridge which I dare not cross as many children were playing across it. At the other end there is a small lake where many locals spend relaxing. If you are not in rush, take your time to explore the park.See more..

The car ride from Yueyang city to Dayun mountain national forest 大云山 took about 2 hours drive through narrow hillside roads , barely wide enough for just 1 car . I would not recommend overseas visitors to China to undertake this car journey without a local guide . On arrival at the Da Yun mountain , we were confronted with a collection booth for an entrance fee of 38 RMB per passenger and 20 RMB per car . What a rip off ! From the gate booth to one of the ancient temple called ZhenJun Temple which was built during the Northern Song Dynasty 2,000 years ago . Before the ZhenJun Temple ,there is another temple with an orange color roof which I was told , is also pretty old . But it has a nasty commercial streak from the temple management . In this temple , Offerings to pray for family welfare etc come in various prices according to the devotee budget or wallet . The cheapest offering to pray for family welfare peace and happiness is 168 RMB . It was a steep climb to the ZhenJun temple from the base and in the temple compound there is a further two other temples , one small and the other a larger one . The smaller temple looks a bit older with its low ceiling and solid stone walls . There is no visible relics or sculpture to indicate that the ZhenJun temple was built during the Northern Song period . Unfortunately the English inscriptions describing the temple on a stone tablet for the ZhenJun temple were barely legible . Not worth the entrance fee of 38 RMB per person but most importantly it is not worth the 2 hours drive through small hilly villages with big farmer mansion type of houses , spreading out their rice Padi ( husky rice ) to dry on windy narrow hillside roads .See more..
4.0Shizi Mountain Park(2 reviews) - Jogger's Paradise Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Parks
If you like to jog this is the park for you. Early risers will enjoy this park very much which can actually be quite busy (although not disturbingly) with local Joggers, Walkers, People Exercising, practicing TaiChi, Fishing, Reading, Talking, playing Tennis & any other type of outdoor activity you could think of. I even saw someday riding a horse. It really is a lovely place to be. Whilst jogging I decided to take a different route back and went to the left of the city wall which actually began to climb up and before I new it I was jogging along the top of the City Wall. Which was lovely, except in order to get down again I had to jog all the way to the next gate which was quite a few KM's further. I enjoyed it very though and was glad to be able to burn a few extra calories.See more..

3.0Songya Lake(1 review) - Nice place for sport and relax Bodies of Water • Parks • Gardens
Songya lake is one of the bigger lake in changsha. This is a wild place not far for the city were it is possible to meet some water wildlife. There are a 10km pedestrian and bike road all around the lake, for the pleasure of sport practicers for biking and jogging. There are also many places were it is possible to rent bikes for: 1 , 2, 3 or even more passagers... 2 white sand beaches have been build in the northern part of the lake, but to avoid during week-end unless to appreciate very busy places. It take 2 hours to walk around the lake or less than 1 hour with a bike. A nice place to find fresh air.See more..
