Great! There were dozens, if not hundreds, of seals just chilling. The Talisman apparently has an exemption, as opposed to other boats, where they came within a few meters of the shoals. Be a good passenger and person: you should pay attention to the seals: are they hurt, stuck in a fishing net, etc. Also mind your voice: they scare easily. Would recommend!See more..

We hired a spacious motor boat for 2 hours which was enough time to follow the canal out into the country side through the reed beds where we saw many different birds. The canals were very quiet and easy to navigate. The owner is a real character and was very helpful in taking us through how the outboard worked and providing us with a map and suggesting a route If you've 3 to 4 hours to spare you can do a round trip out of Harlingen via several local villages and back. We visited Grou on the opening of the season and had a free sail clinic for an hour with Merel from Sail Experience. It was a beautiful day, sun and wind a great combination. Visiting the seals while they are resting on the sandbank is marvellous but the added value of this trip is the humorous but educational explanation of the crew when they comment on the fish they caught in the 'Waddenzee'. After only 15 minutes hanging out the fishing nets in the sea, they have plenty of fish to comment. And afterwards all of the fish goes back in the sea, alive and kicking... Arrived at tour office to find a gentleman handing out additional information about our tour. What we had booked for was not available that day due to "technical issues". We were herded off to a much older boat and to another destination, not at all the one we had planned on. We were told that we would be given an ice cream and a drink for free as compensation. The bulk of the 50 people on board were "seniors". It seemed to me that they likely felt it was not enough people on a Monday morning to go with the bigger boat, so we ended up in this metal monstrosity. Totally disappointed in this trip is an understatement. To top it all off, the bus to take us back to our starting point was 15 minutes late and it was windy and cold!! Again totally unacceptable. My brother, 83 yrs., ended up with a whopper of a cold as a result of this experience. Never again will we book with this company that misrepresents its trips. The literature looks good, but the reality is another story. Save your money!See more..

Wat een fijne ervaring was dit! Ondanks dat het weer niet zonnig was, was onze boottrip dat zeker wel. Wat ik fijn vind is dat het mailcontact (met Hans) heel soepel verliep. Hans stond open voor allerlei vragen en reageerde snel. De ontvangst op 28 mei was zeer gastvrij en vriendelijk. In de heerlijk stille boot stond de koffie en thee met friese koek al op ons te wachten. Wolter was onze leuke schipper. Ook de drankjes en hapjes die we hadden besteld was uitstekend geregeld en het zag er allemaal erg verzorgd uit. Kortom, prima in orde! Zeker een aanrader.See more..

Heerlijke week gehad in kleinschalig vakantiepark (woning E8) gelegen in een mooie waterrijke omgeving. Wij zijn geen watersporters maar wel natuurliefhebbers. Veel gefietst en daarbij plaatsen en plaatsjes bezocht als Sneek, Hindeloopen, Stavoren en Workum. Woning met 8 slaapplaatsen gebruikten we met zijn 2-en dat was lekker comfortabel. Heerlijke (leef)kamer + tuin op het zuiden met zicht op het water en de boten. Keuken is goed uitgerust maar in de omgeving zijn ook prima restaurants.See more..
Highly recommend Friesland Boating in every aspect. It was our first time in Friesland and our first time on a boating holiday in NL. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the boat was very clean and all relevant manuals, guidebooks and maps were available. The staff shared lots of tips for beginners which really helped us. Hele goede ontvangst met uitleg van de boot en lokale situatie. Eigenaren leven echt met en voor de boot! We hebben er met 11 man overnacht. Door het perfecte weer eerst uitgebreid aan dek gelegen. Daarna gekookt (wees gerust; er zijn zat voorzieningen om dit te laten slagen. Alleen eten zelf meenemen) en aan dek gegeten tot laat. Daarna prima vermaakt binnen en met z’n allen lekker geslapen. I have been sailing with Wazeezeilen and Skipper Maarten Klapwijk on the VD99 three times now. Twice we went to the Engelsmansplaat in the "Waddenzee" north of the Netherlands to 'fall dry' at low tide and once we sailed on the Lauwersoog. Each time the experience in the largest natural preserve of the Netherlands (and Unesco World Heritage location!) was close to magic. It is hard to describe the feeling, sailing the sea walking around on the mud flats, watching the birds and the seal colonies... Maarten and his crew are extremely nice and know a lot about this natural preserve which they happily share with their guests. They also allow guests - including kids! - to sail the ship. It may be interesting to know they have a special eye for the need of elderly people: my 80-yr mother had the day of her life! Excellent for a day out with family or friends, especially if you love nature and being together in a relaxed athmosphere. You will come back completely recharged!See more..
Mahalo Sailing offers a number of sailing trips, generally for women only. I went on the two-week sailing tour of French Polynesia in December 2022. Overall it was an unforgettable trip. French Polynesia is stunningly beautiful, and it was great to see it both from land and by sea. We toured a few islands by car and bicycle, and had one great guided tour with a local who drove us all around Taha’a, showed us a vanilla farm, and answered many questions about the island, the locals, the culture, etc. I loved being able to swim and snorkel right off the boat. Note if you want to scuba dive, you will have to do that before or after the organized trip. That said, I saw a riot of coral, a multitude of fish of all sizes and hues, sharks, an octopus, a gigantic ray, all w/o having to dive. I was hoping for some more hands-on sailing, but due to the need to get from one place to another within a certain timeframe, we mostly motored. We were the 2nd of two boats and due to last minute problems, the boat on our crew was rather inexperienced and had trouble coping with the many technical issues that popped up on the boat (that were the fault of the charter company, a separate company). Note that 14 women on a 52 foot Lagoon catamaran is squeezy – something to consider if you don’t like sharing confined spaces. The food on this particular trip varied alot, from very good to meh. We all pitched in for cleanup. That said, I went not knowing anyone else on board, and had no trouble making friends. There was great camaraderie and lots of laughter.See more..
