Once meat, butter and cheese were weighed here. 17th century Makkum was flourishing thanks to the port and unlocked hinterland. The weighing house was completed in 1698. Functional in style (the upper floors could also be used for storage) it is still in good shape. Nowadays there is history documentation center.See more..
Lemster Fiskersman is a statue of a fisherman and also a shipwreck that represents how important the roll of Lemmer in "Fishing" in the 19th and 20th century in the Netherlands. Though nowadays this place has more other activities, you can still see the trace of the fishing history. We found this statue when we did the "Round the dock" route.
