Subtropical swimming paradise Swimfun in Joure is a great location for a day full of water fun, a nice family trip or a relaxation moment. Swimfun offers facilities for all ages. Whether you come to slip and slide, swim through the waves, or play in the kiddy pool, it is all possible. There are a lot of nice extras besides the indoor pool. Experience exciting adventures in the jungle of the rapid Wild River, or splash through our slide with interactive gaming elements, and put down the highest score! For the people who like to enjoy some relaxing moments in between all the fun, Swimfun has herbal baths, Turkish steam baths, a private sauna, and tanning beds. During the weekends and holidays our macaw mascot Sara drops by to dance, hug, and play with the little ones near the kiddy pool. Once started as a hobby project, Duinenzathe is now a pretty full-fledged amusement park. A roller coaster and a variety of other rides for most ages and interests are available. The park is well-maintained, spacious and definitely more complete than initially meets the eye! Fairly roomy terraces are available for those in need of a little rest or conversation while the more energetic can have a ball in the park. Interestingly (at least, for a certain audience) is the rare fact that consumptions are included in the entrance fee! A snack bar is open and a range of hot snacks and cold drinks is available on an all-you-can-eat and all-day-long basis! Definitely a place to return to. See more..

The so called "Kameleondorp" is Terherne in Friesland located near Joure and Akkrum. The "Kameleon" is the name of a boat featured in famous Dutch children's books. The village of Terherne has some characteristics that are similar to the village described in the books. There is a museum in the village where you can learn about the stories from the books. Furthermore you can make a tour with the "Kameleon", this boat ride is very nice as the area around the village of Terherne is very beautiful! See more..
