-Eclectic and always interesting
Sunday: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Art Museums
FIA Closed March 14 Through April 6 As the spread of COVID-19 continues worldwide, the Flint Institute of Arts (FIA) has been assessing and investigating all options regarding our venues and operations. We have made the decision to close all public spaces at the FIA and the FIA Art School effective tomorrow, Saturday, March 14. All public programs, special and/or private events, and meetings between March 14 and April 5 are postponed or canceled at this time. Although this was a difficult decision, the health and safety of our guests, students, volunteers, and staff is our first priority. The FIA recognizes its part helping minimize the spread of the virus and its impact on our community and national health systems. We appreciate your flexibility and patience as we move through this unprecedented time together. - 5.0 Applewood Estate (48 reviews)
-I am planning a trip back!
Temporarily closed - Closed until May 3, 2023 Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Gardens
Applewood is the historic Flint, Mich., estate of automotive pioneer Charles Stewart Mott, open seasonally from May–October. In addition to the home and attached greenhouse, the 34-acre estate includes an apple orchard with 29 heirloom varieties, extensive gardens, a gatehouse, barn, and coop. Applewood Estate is a Michigan Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Sites. C.S. Mott built Applewood in 1916 as a family home and gentleman’s farm. Though the site is no longer operated as a farm and does not house animals, today it remains open to the public as a historic site, community resource, place of beauty and tranquility, and a tribute to the legacy of C.S. Mott. The enduring legacy of C.S. and Ruth Mott is their extraordinary commitment to civic participation, and we work to embody this spirit in our work at Applewood. See more..
- 5.0 ForMar Nature Preserve (27 reviews)
-Love For-Mar!
Sunday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
When there is not a pandemic, they have wonderful programs. We have been pretty bored since we cannot go many places during this time. We go to For-Mar a couple times a week to walk the trails and enjoy nature. You may see deer, turkeys, geese, frogs, turtles, snakes chipmunks and more on your visit if you’re looking! No pets allowed. There is also a tree house that was featured on tv but once you’ve seen it a couple of times, it’s not that exciting. We go mostly to look around the pond. There are also a couple of bridges. See more..
- 5.0 University of Michigan Flint (17 reviews)
-Great School
Sunday: Educational sites
I am very proud to be UM-Flint alumni. I worked on a project to build a better wind tunnel in my senior design class. I have been to other universities as both a student and visitor, and I have never seen a senior project that approached this level. It was remarkable to get the funding for an undergraduate project of this size. This wind tunnel demonstrates the capabilities of UM-Flint mechanical engineering students to design-build-test a complex system that is also useful as laboratory test equipment. See more..

- 4.5 Flint Farmers Market (199 reviews)
-A gem in Downtown Flint
Sunday: Flea & Street Markets
While some of the restaurants are a bit pricey, I love the variety of foods, arts, entertainment, and - of course - the availability of fresh produce. Only being open three days a week makes each day crowded. But I guess that adds to the liveliness of the place. I love the new space. It's a nice addition to the Downtown Flint area. See more..

- 4.5 Dort Federal Event Center (11 reviews)
-Not a bad view in the house
Arenas & Stadiums
I enjoyed a Firebirds hockey game with my brother here. One level seating with not a bad seat in the house. Overpriced concessions and under quality taste. Beer prices are decent. They have a gift shop that is extremely overpriced for the merchandise. VUP parking is available in the rear of the building for $5. The venue was clean along with the restrooms. Staff was friendly and armed security was plentiful making you feel safe (even though entry did not require a search or metal detectors). Good team with nice entertainment between periods. I would definitely return for a game but eat somewhere else prior or after. See more..

- 4.5 Automotive Pioneers of Michigan Statues (2 reviews)
-Beautiful bronze statues detailing automotive pioneers!
Monuments & Statues
So you can easily see these all on the street, and most of them are in one paved square along the sidewalk. They explained of course about some well-known pioneers, as well as some lesser-known. I'm pretty sure they spent a pretty penny on these, and if you are into cars this is a must do. It's neat to learn about some inventors that I never heard of, and how they contributed to something we take for granted everyday sometimes. Usually all we hear about is Henry Ford. Once I can find my pictures, I will post them. See more..
- 4.0 Stepping Stone Falls (80 reviews)
-Beautiful there! An inexpensive treat!
Parks • Waterfalls
The kids loved the falls! The ducks and carp were friendly, so bring food that's appropriate for them to eat. It's so serene and lovely. We also took the Belle (A paddle boat out of there for an hour trip). Be sure to google it. A truly inexpensive day filled with fun! Right across from Blue Belle beach-so make a day of it! See more..
- 4.0 Historic Saginaw Street (25 reviews)
-Symbol of Motor City
Historic Walking Areas

- 4.0 Bluebell Beach (20 reviews)
-Bluebell is nice.
Parks
Been reading some bad reviews about Bluebell beach. Yes, it can get crowded on a holiday when everyone has the day off but generally is is not and there is room for everyone. The kids love the water park and large sandy beach, the restrooms are clean, BBQ gills are available. The e-coli situation is when it is very hot and it is from animal waste runoff, you know birds and deer. It is monitored constantly so there is no danger, if the levels are high just don't go in the water. It is a safe place to visit and there is a park ranger station (certified police) one mile away. See more..
- 4.0 Masonic Temple (19 reviews)
-Battista's makes this the place to be
Sunday: Architectural Buildings
Excellent food for the best lunch in town. Wonderful service, great atmosphere, I can't say enough good about this place. The prices are perfect too. I only wish that they were open for dinner. See more..
- 4.0 Capitol Theatre (12 reviews)
-Wonderful, intimate venue
Theaters
I wanted to see Styx again (live in Chicagoland) and the closest they played was in Flint at the Capitol Theatre. I'd never been to Flint, let alone this venue and I pleasantly surprised with what I found. It is a restored, classic theatre with nice sidelines, a friendly staff, and relatively close parking. Another nice aspect was the area - even post-show, I felt safe walking down a block to my parking spot. Seating is nice - seats are a little wider and the floor is slightly angled up and gives each seat a decent view. As is typical, people are friendly in smaller cities and I was not disappointed with Flint and the Capitol Theatre. I'd go back in a heartbeat, if the option presents. See more..
