Vernor's Mural, Michigan, United States

4.5 (19 reviews) Spent Ranking #12 in Flint Points of Interest & Landmarks

Fun

Very interesting if you take the time to actually study the mural. I always enjoy such things as I travel. There's a sense of history to them.

    Huge, nice mural!
This is a huge mural on the side of a building by Halo Burger. It's kind of confusing to find, so be on the lookout, safely. It honors Vernor's Ginger Ale, which was a Detroit-born drink. You'll find it other places, sometimes or often, depending on where you go, but yep, it was first made in the Motor City. It was made by a pharmacist. In fact, the Mitten State's first one. His name was.... James Vernor.

The Vernor's Mural rekindled a childhood memory.
As a child, my siblings and I were introduced to Vernor's when served that by our parents when we were sick. We learned to call it "sick pop" because that is the only time we were allowed to drink it for years and years. I liked the taste of it and would occasionally sneak sips of it when one of my siblings left their "sick pop" unattended. Now as an adult, I drink it just because I like the taste. However, if I am feeling a cold or flu coming on, I make sure to pick up some "sick pop" if I don't have any at my house already. Tom from Clio, Michigan.
