Eclectic and always interesting

FIA Closed March 14 Through April 6 As the spread of COVID-19 continues worldwide, the Flint Institute of Arts (FIA) has been assessing and investigating all options regarding our venues and operations. We have made the decision to close all public spaces at the FIA and the FIA Art School effective tomorrow, Saturday, March 14. All public programs, special and/or private events, and meetings between March 14 and April 5 are postponed or canceled at this time. Although this was a difficult decision, the health and safety of our guests, students, volunteers, and staff is our first priority. The FIA recognizes its part helping minimize the spread of the virus and its impact on our community and national health systems. We appreciate your flexibility and patience as we move through this unprecedented time together. Excellent small art museum and art school.
What a wonderful fun art museum! It is easy to find from the Interstate and from downtown Flint. A broad and well rounded collection and always vital, interesting exhibitions added. Works from ancient to classical to modern. A beautiful sculpture courtyard and an education wing. Easy parking. Several nice gift shops and a cafe, too. A beautiful Chihuly chandelier in the lobby. I was worried about the continuing TERRIBLE Flint water crisis. It is still shocking that this crisis has not been resolved for the poor neighborhoods. This has dragged on since 2014! But I have been to the Art Institute several times since then and the cultural campus and wealthy areas have protected and clean water. Of course!

    Something for Everyone
A lovely day spent at the museum. Great variety of exhibits. The cafe offers tasty eats and a nice selection of wine. We had a few specific exhibits that we wanted to see and found a few surprises, too.
