    Largest Planetarium in Michigan
This is the largest planetarium in Michigan and it is very nice. There is a large lobby area with a nice gift shop and clean restrooms. Staff was friendly. There are photographs in the lobby and lining the walls as you enter the planetarium which are nice. Seating is very comfortable and shows are nice. Right next door is the Flint Institute of the Arts. A planetarium worth visiting!

Five Stars for Longway's "Stars" Showing!
We last visited the Longway Planetarium in Flint, MI when our children (now 38 & 40 yrs old, respectively) were young children. This time we took their children (our grandchildren, ages 8 & 10 yrs old). We weren't sure what to expect; Was it the same? Was it up-to-date? Would it be expensive? Would it use the old "star projector?" Would it be comfortable? Would it be handicap accessible? Would it still enthrall our grandkids as it had our children almost thirty years previous? Not to worry. The answers were: 1. No. It was a wonderful blend of things saved from previous eras, and a complete and beautiful renovation. 2. Yes. The state-of-the-art technology was breathtaking. 3. No. Admission cost us less than twenty dollars for all four of us. 4. No. The huge projector that used to take up the whole center of the room was gone, leaving lots of room for all. 5. Yes. The seats were large, comfortable, and reclined, allowing everybody to see. 6. Yes. Unlike before, everything is ramped now, and very accessible, with a number of spaces open for wheelchairs like mine. I was able to sit with the whole family! 7. Yes. The program tapped just the right blend for kids and adults without "talking down" or being silly. It was just as interesting for us as it was for the kids, and they talked about it all the way home. It was a hit. If you want something truly special to do with the kids that won't break the bank, but that will be both educational and exciting, go on-line and check out the various programs that are running at Flint's beautifully remodeled, technologically stunning, and well thought-out Longway Planetarium, find one that interests the family and GO! You, your wallet, your kids' teachers, and the kids will all be glad that you did.
