3 Star Places To Visit in Phang Nga Province, Thailand (12)

  1. 3.5 International Tsunami Museum (3.347 reviews)
    - Simple But Profoundly Moving
Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Speciality Museums
    International Tsunami Museum image
Whilst there is not a lot to see at this site, the photographic display is moving and does give a very vivid picture of the disaster and the immediate impact on those who experienced this unbelievable phenomenon. The location of the navy boat 813 also impacts on your sense of the power of the tsunami as you understand that it was propelled 2 kms inland. One of the most significant features of the site, for me, is the concrete “monument”, its height replicating the height of the wave as it swept through the area. I feel this is a site one should visit when in Khao Lak, not so much to understand the disaster, as most have us have seen footage on media outlets, but to appreciate the fact that the people here have, under extraordinary circumstances, been able to rebuild their lives and their community. A small “tourist market stall” sells items, the proceeds of which are donated to local charity related to the disaster. See more..
  2. 3.5 Khai Island (521 reviews)
    - Beautiful beaches
    Islands
    Khai Island image
We had visited the beautiful Khai island along with Phi Phi islands as part of full day sightseeing tour by speed boat from Phuket. This place has crystal clear torquoise blue waters where tourists were enjoying swimming, bathing, snorkeling, sunbathing on the beach. Also this place has water sports activities like jet ski, banana boat etc. There are many small eating joints where one can relax by the sea with food. We had a good time in this island. See more..
  3. 3.5 Koh Panyi (169 reviews)
    - Floating Village ... Nice Cooked Foods
    Historic Sites
    Koh Panyi image
One of the stop pit of our Phang Nga Island Tour. Our tour stopped here for lunch. Surprisingly their foods are nice and tasty. Spicy too ... I like it!!! A nice floating Malay Village with their homes are built over the water. If you have been to Kukup Island at Johor, it looks similar as there also have the wooden walkways. See more..
  4. 3.5 Khai Nok Island (114 reviews)
    - Only For The View
    Islands
    Khai Nok Island image
There are two areas on this island - one is a small beach, near the drinks stall and beach chairs, which is lovely IF it was 20 years ago. The corals now here are not in a good state at all, presumably from mass tourism it receives. BUT, on the other side of the island, is white stretch of powdery sand that promises crystal clear waters and fishes to look at. Good for a swim too! And undoubtedly, the view is amazing to look at. If you're looking to snorkel here, I believe there are much prettier islands or beaches in Phuket to do so. See more..
  5. 3.0 Tublamu Navy Golf Course (69 reviews)
    - Challenging
    Golf Courses
    Tublamu Navy Golf Course image
I played four rounds here while visiting friends in Khao Lak. I like the course it is very varied and challenging. Others have said that the greens and fairways are poor. I don't entirely agree, however the type of grass means you only get what you hit with little run. Not ideal for a links golfer like myself. What nobody seems to mention is that the views, particularly 17 and 18 along the beach are magnificent. We played early afternoon so that we were just finishing before sunset. Amazing. I had caddy 007 on the first two rounds I played and her reading of the greens was exemplary. See more..
  6. 3.5 Ton Pring Waterfall (60 reviews)
    - Another Waterfall!!!
    Waterfalls
    Ton Pring Waterfall image
The waterfall was flowing quite well. Several of our group decided to enter the water, although most did not stay immersed for too long - it was too cold. Waterfalls seem to be a tour company”s “go to” spot, although most of them leave me underwhelmed. Obviously, the location of most of them is very appealing, as was this one. See more..
  7. 3.5 Medsye Travel & Tours (28 reviews)
    - Good trip to Ko Tachai
    Sightseeing Tours
    Medsye Travel & Tours image
Medsye staffs were great and took good care of us. The speedboat was in good condition with 3 engines so it was very fast. And plenty of lunch were provided. While the day-trip does not run to schedule (as many have pointed out), we felt that the tour was organized sufficiently good to allow us to enjoy the island. We have been on many island tours, and they rarely run to schedule. We would certainly use Medsye again in the future. See more..

    Ao Sai Beach image
This little beach is tucked away down a dirt track but when you get there, wow! Best when the tide is in otherwise the water goes out a long way and is pretty shallow but there are waves, the most stunning white sand and thr most turquoise water! Well worth seeking out See more..
  11. 3.5 Kian Bay (5 reviews)
    - Most Fascinating place I have ever visited
    Beaches
    Kian Bay image
There is a charm that exists here that is hard to explain. Solemn and inspiring. We arrived by longtailboat to a deserted beach confused about the total absence of people, considering the amount of perceived infrastructure. Multiple signs and some buildings including an entry hut with a signpost for payment of the national park fee. Unmanned and unused. We pressed on and discovered the closest thing to Jurassic Park on earth. Buildings that were totally abandoned before completion and gangplanks/ picturesque rivers that have gone to disrepair. We walked quietly up to the Big Tree (which is beautiful in itself) and were in awe at how nature had reclaimed a place and fascination about the story of why this happened. All in all it makes it a solemn and atmospheric experience and an absolute must visit. If anyone could shed some light on what happened here I would be very interested but otherwise go and visit this incredible lost world. See more..
  12. 3.0 Elephant Family (1 review)
