Whilst there is not a lot to see at this site, the photographic display is moving and does give a very vivid picture of the disaster and the immediate impact on those who experienced this unbelievable phenomenon. The location of the navy boat 813 also impacts on your sense of the power of the tsunami as you understand that it was propelled 2 kms inland. One of the most significant features of the site, for me, is the concrete “monument”, its height replicating the height of the wave as it swept through the area. I feel this is a site one should visit when in Khao Lak, not so much to understand the disaster, as most have us have seen footage on media outlets, but to appreciate the fact that the people here have, under extraordinary circumstances, been able to rebuild their lives and their community. A small “tourist market stall” sells items, the proceeds of which are donated to local charity related to the disaster. See more..

Wow wow wow Something like 9 huge buildings with a huge fascinating collection of artefacts, curios, fossils, coins, tools, vehicles, antiques and even a light plane (far too much to list) - all under cover and well displayed in buildings that will amaze - there are enormous catfish that can be fed too A must do - we will definitely revisit on our next holiday and factor in more time to explore - situated a short drive from Koh Samet Viewpoint There is also a small gift shop and cool drinks available Many thanks See more..
