As part of our trip this was the last port of call. Really amazing the cave system is very extensive and the reclining Buddha is a work of art. If you're staying in Krabi and interested in seeing any of the temples, you absolutely need to go see Wat Ban Riang. We stayed in Ao Nang and couldn't find any tours that went there so we rented a van/driver for the day to head north to see the temple. It was absolutely stunning, I've never seen anything like it. The country side surrounding the temple is beautiful; undulating green hills as far as the eye can see. The temple itself is incredibly ornate and intricate. The massive statues of the Chinese Goddess of Compassion and Buddha are incredible. Of all the excursions we did in Krabi, this was by far our favourite. This place a little far away from Phuket. We visited it when we were driving from Phuket to Krabi. It is about 10Ks from the main highway 4. The temple is on a mountain and the climb is pretty steep. Not many people. We were the only family at the temple for about 30 mins before another group came in. They charge 20bahts per person and do not allow people wearing shorts. So I had to rent a pant for another 20baht. On one side of the temple, the view of the mountain is beautiful and you can see a golden buddha being constructed on the other hill. See more..
