The Phang Nga Elephant Park is a small family-run park. Our family has cared for elephants for over 150 years and we opened the park in 2015 so that we could keep our elephants in a caring and stress-free environment and give our visitors an extraordinary and life-enhancing experience. We are dedicated to providing our elephants with the highest quality of life possible and our strong belief in human-elephant interaction is what makes the Phang Nga Elephant Park so special. We spent half a day at Thap Lamu Sea turtle conservation and were humbled at the enthusiasm and dedication of Mr Jimmy and his crew. From 1 week old babies to older, disabled turtles they look after and care for all with the same love and attention. A visit here is highly recommended if you love turtles or even if you're looking for something to do on a rainy day. A couple of things i'd like to point out; 1 - Don't be put off by the fact it is situated inside the Thai Naval base compound. You'll need to bring along photo I.D. (passport, driver's license) which you leave at the main gate with the guards but they are very friendly and helpful. 2 - Do try to get a guided tour rather than walking around by yourself...Mr Jimmy is super knowledgeable in all things Turtle related and is one of life's good guys. 3 - The entrance fee is only 60 Baht but please also put something in the donations box...it all goes towards food and medicine for the turtles. The most amazing place, and extremely fair pricing for tickets. We met the most knowing, kind and friendly man, who told us about the work they are doing with the turtles. He really understood how to involve the children (aged 2-5) and we were in every way moved and amazed by the story of the place and the important work that they are doing, saving turtles one at the time ♥️ See more..
  4. 4.5 Elephant Head Rock (52 reviews)
    - One of the top dive sites in the Similans
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Elephant Head Rock image
You go in a circle around the huge central boulders, in either direction, depending on the current. Depths can go to way beyond 30m, depending on your certification and experience. You'll see sharks at the greater depths. If you're lucky, "Barry", the barracuda is hiding under an overhang in the shallows. You'll need a good guide to take you through all the magnificent swim-thrus, from down at 25m to just below the surface. With good viz this can be the best site in the entire National Marine Park. Also, ask your guide about Elephant Head Pinnacle, which is just off to the ... south-east I believe? No one ever goes there and it is beautiful. Full of pristine coral gardens. But very deep! Went to the elephant camp as part of a day trip. Arrived in a party of 12. 10 went bathing with the elephants and 2 went on a trek. I went bathing. It was slightly odd seeing these great animals at close quarters. I enjoyed it but at the back of my mind it seemed a little bit odd. These are supposed to be wild animals not used as tourist party pieces. All in all I left feeling slightly ill at ease about it all. I wish I knew more about why they were there. These are African elephants after all. See more..

It was a day well spent at the Ton Pariwat Wildlife Sanctuary. At present, a package tour is offered by travel agencies (we took it from the tourism desk at Phuket airport) to include trekking on an elephant’s back through intact forests along both sides of the stream. Rafting is also available for adventure lovers. There is also zip lining and ATV rides which makes it all such fun. Also a part of the package is a small trek to the Ton Pariwat Waterfalls as well. The falls and the forest is indeed mesmerising... See more..
