- 5.0 Nakee Cave (3 reviews)
-Enchanted place
Caverns & Caves
Located within Phu Langka national park, the Nakee Caves is the sister version to the Naga Caves on the other side of the Phu Langka mountain range. Nakee, or Nagini, refers to a female Naga. Visitors can walk in, no need for any advance booking like the Naga Caves. Nakee Caves has about 9 Naga/Nakee rocks. Each group needs a park ranger to act as a guide. The trek up and down takes about 3-4 hours, the way up is fairly easy for someone who is fit, but the way down has some steep sections. The entire area has a enchanted mystical atmosphere, with pilgrims believing in the sacredness and the legends of the cursed King Ue Le which the guide can tell you about. See more..

Spent 2-3 hours Waterfalls

-The best and only craft beer bar in town with fresh beer on tap
Tuesday: Spent 2-3 hours Breweries
If you have been touring in Nakhon Phanom all day and want to moisten your dry throat; I have the perfect place for you. There is one bar; well hidden away in a small back alley (ask for the football field) behind Kasikorn Bank on Aphiban Buncha Road. It is the only craft beer bar in Nakhon Phanom with beers on tap. They also have a nice selection of imported bottles and cans. The place is nice, cosy and the staff speaks good english. They are beer lovers and you can have a good conversation about craft beer with them if you are an enthusiast. This is a must-go-to place in Nakhon Phanom. See more..

- 4.5 Wat Phra That Phanom (190 reviews)
-Divinely graceful temple
Tuesday: 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM Religious Sites
This is considered Isan’s holiest and most revered temple, visitors arriving would come here first to pay respects. The temple is about an hour’s drive south of Nakorn Phanom city and airport. There is ample parking, and a small market in front. The stupa itself exudes an aura of grace and beauty, the tiled courtyard floor around it is surprisingly cool to walk barefoot on a hot sunny day. The current stupa is a newer one, the ruins of the original is in front and was destroyed in an earthquake. Locals say the stupa was built by women in competition with another stupa built by men on the Lao side See more..
- 4.5 Wat Maha That Temple (96 reviews)
-ots of gold
Points of Interest & Landmarks
A handsome temple with a traditional Lao style stupa. Around the stupa there are endless gilded nagas (including some with birds nests growing out of their mouths) but the big surprise is that there is a door leading into a room under the tower itself decorated with a riot of gold leaf on the many statues of the Buddha. A really worthwhile visit - allow a good hour. See more..
- 4.5 Paya Sri Satta Nakarat (62 reviews)
-Quite a large snake!
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
Similarly to many South East Asian waterside cities - Singapore the Merlion, Songkla the green naga - Nakon Phanom has a particularly fine gilded, seven-headed naga as its signature monument spurting water and clearly respected by the populace. Lots of photos opportunities here too by day or by night See more..

- 4.5 Dinosaur Footprints Park at Tha Uthen (7 reviews)
-Dinosaur Footprints Learning Centre
Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Educational sites
Dinosaur and crocodile Footprints were discovered in Tha Uthen. They are displayed together with dinosaur and crocodile statues. So we can see the directions they were walking. There are many footprints and also descriptions on Posters which are old and some texts are missing. Hope that the Tourism of Thailand would amend that. By the way, I found that it is quite interesting, especially for kids, to stop by and visit this place while traveling along the Khong River. See more..

- 4.5 Phra That Maha Chai (6 reviews)
-The Biggest Wooden Buddha in Thailand that You'll Never See.
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The biggest wooden Buddha image in Thailand can be located in Wat Phrathat Mahachai, but unfortunately it is kept locked up and nobody can view it. However, the huge temple grounds are clean and peaceful, and is a pleasant place to stroll around and admire the various statues of temple 'guardians' around each wihan. See more..

-BEAUTIFUL Place
Speciality & Gift Shops
We were visiting friends in Thailand and our friends took us here to walk around on the way back to the hotel from a lake. Wonderful sites to see and a very relaxing picnic area. There is a hike to the top but that is a bit of a hike, we did not have that much time. Stop by if you are ever in the area. See more..
- 4.5 Ho Chi Minh House (4 reviews)
-Fascinating
History Museums
I didn't know the Uncle Ho had spent around three years in this modest safe house in the quiet village on Ban na Chok outside Nakhon Phanom. Apparently the village had been settled by Vietnamese immigrants for some 200 years. Paradoxically the area was central to US forces in the American efforts to defeat the Viet Cong during the Viet Nam war - the Thais fearing that Viet Nam was aiming to to destabilise the country. - 4.5 Forum Cafe (2 reviews)

-Bikeabout on the Mekong River
Spent 2-3 hours Biking Trails
I love an easy bicycle ride in the morning. Even better on a designated bike path, coupled with a natural landmark for a backdrop. Well the Nakhon Phanom Walking Street Bicycle Track ticks these boxes, plus others including curious architectural sights, cool cafes, friendly locals and modest (daytime) congestion. I was able to hire a bike from my hotel (Pornpiang) and looking forward to heading back soon. See more..
- 4.0 Thai-Vietnamese Friendship Village (44 reviews)
-Nice Memorial Alter and Gardens
Neighborhoods
Beautiful landscape and new concrete buildings replicating “Chinese style” buildings. Having a small theater showing a short 15 minute video telling about Hồ Chí Minh’s life ( in English & Thai) would be more interesting than exhibiting a wall of b&w photographs; for, he did live an interesting life that most people are not aware of. Not worth a special trip unless you have plenty of time . The small Mekong River Aquarium is nearby( 30 baht only) which can be a included in your day’s excursion in this area. See more..
- 4.0 Saint Anna Nong Saeng Catholic Church (37 reviews)
-A brief visit
Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
A brief visit out of hours as one of several stops. I noticed on other reviews that it was closed so have attached a photo of their open hours. Mon to Fri from 06:15, Sat from 06:30 and Sun from 07:00 and again from 19:00. The grounds are clean & well maintained but unable to enter the church. From photos contributed we will have to visit again. See more..

- 4.0 Wat Okat Si Bua Ban (10 reviews)
-See ancient statues of Buddha housed here.
Religious Sites
I had never been to this particular Wat (Temple) before. This is the most northern of the five temples on what I call "Temple Road." It is within easy walking distance from the Indochine Market another popular tourist attraction in Nakhon Phanom on the banks of the Mekong River. This Wat has two famous statues of Buddha worth seeing but they are housed behind a stainless steel structure to protect them. The grounds and buildings are well kept and worth the visit. See more..
- 4.0 Wat Si Thep Pradittharam (8 reviews)

Spent < 1 hour Religious Sites
This whole area is full of beautiful Buddhist temples, and this is just one more of them. Very beautiful and peaceful. We went in the evening when the monks were doing their prayers. See more..
- 4.0 Wat Phra Bat Wern Pla (2 reviews)

The Buddha's Footprint is on a rock in the middle of the river. You have to walk on a makeshift bridge made out of wood and very shaky but worth the walk out into the river for blessing it or whatever your pleasure... See more..

See more..
