    - Beautiful Naga

    Phu Manorom image
Lovely temple complex on the mountain close to town. It has amazing views of the surrounding towns and countryside. We loved the Naga's area! The big Buddha was nice on the outside but as it's still under construction, there really isn't anything inside. The Buddha does however have an observation deck four flights up. There is an elevator or plenty of stairs to choose from. You park at the base of the mountain and take a donation based baht bus to the top. There are food vendors and small shops at the parking lot See more..

    - Bot worth a special trip
    Flea & Street Markets
    Indochina Market image
If you are staying in town and have an hour to kill, this is an interesting plave to do it. But I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to get here. The market stretches for blocks along the river. Dried foods, snack foods, some people selling sausage or coffee, but that's it for food. No street food to be had. Plenty of clothing, toys, tools, tacky souvenirs, and housewares, plus a few antiquities and other shops. Like I said, if you are here and have an hour to kill, come on by. But I would by no means think of this as a shopping destination. See more..

    Flea & Street Markets
Talat Hua Mum Muang Mai image
A Muk man told us about this night market and we are glad he did. It's mainly food but there are a few other items for sale. I would say there are about 40 food places to choose from mostly Thai but a few Western choices, plenty of seating and sometimes music when the band feels like it. I had a rather good hamburger that even had caramelised onions, my Thai wife had mala (super spicy) bbq and wasn't so impressed. Cheap and not nasty. Worth a try especially if you like sitting outdoors. See more..

  18. 3.0 Phu Sa Dok Bua National Park (5 reviews)
    - Interesting place to see but with some little drawbacks
    National Parks • Parks
Phu Sa Dok Bua National Park image
We, my wife and me (Farang/Thai) visited this National Park. From Mugdahan by Taxi (300BHT oneway) about 17km away. Here comes the first surprise: Thai entrance fee 20BHT, Foreigner (whatever that means) 100BHT. Don't expect now some documentation in english or any other language spoken or written, than Thai. Back to the site: It is really interesting to see what water over centuries can do to Sandstone. I add some pictures to give you an idea. It is a pretty wide area to hike, casual shoe work will do it. The trails are not clearly signed as man would expect, so pay attention not to get lost somewhere (you will find the way out but might have to walk back quite a distance. Take water with you as there is no supply available on the trails and the sun is hot with little or no shade. At the exit you might enjoy a fresh Coconutdrink. Btw: get the mobile number from the Taxidriver to call for pick up. See more..
