I'd seen very little positive information about Tacna, so I was pleasantly surprised with my visit. I was there on business for 2 days, and I was walking around the central area visiting optical stores (my business industry). The Paseo Civico was clean, nice flowers, had free WiFi, and made the area very nice. The impressive Cathedral is at one end, then many flowers, palm trees and paths up around a huge arch (like St Louis freedom-arch style) and goes for a few blocks. There were local musicians playing music in the park in what is clearly an effort by the city to keep a nice atmosphere. Oh, and even at night (around 10-11pm) it was still fine, well-lit and with several visible policemen walking around - felt totally safe walking around. See more..
