    Coral Dreams image
Guillermo picked us up from Calcique beach and took us for some snorkeling on a nearby island. We were lucky to be followed by dolphins around the boat. It was quite magical! After the first 45mns snorkeling, we went back on the boat and went to a smaller island Mogo Mogo, which has a beautiful beach where you can walk, chase little crabs and pick up little shells. Guillermo dropped us away from the beach so we could make our way there snorkeling. The sea was a bit rough on the way back but Guillermo knew how to handle the current and the waves. It was a fun afternoon out. See more..
  3. 5.0 Panama Surf School (111 reviews)
    - Major FOMO
Saturday: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM Surfing & Windsurfing • Stand Up Paddleboarding • Day Trips
    Panama Surf School image
One of the most fun and enjoyable experiences I've had in a long time. We were given a quick, "how to stand up" lesson before setting us loose in the water. Our guides were helpful, attentive, and made the whole experience one to remember. I will say that our group was a very active group in their young 30's and this might not be everyone but if you enjoy, skiing, snowboarding, yoga, you'll have a great time. Most importantly, don't be the one in your group that skips and experiences major FOMO when you're friends finish. See more..

    Pearl Islands Day Tours image
Our experiences with Ilene were the highlight of our Panama trip. She arranged a trip for my friend and I and our recent high school graduates. I was able to fish, which I love - but nobody else does. We visited some amazing snorkeling spots and we even saw some dolphins. But that’s just the start of our fun! Ilene invited our girls to help her teach her English class which they LOVED as they are both minoring in Spanish in college. Then she suggested a trip to Saboga island the next day - which we took and again had a wonderful time. We met locals, saw beautiful untouched beaches, toured a beautiful church and ate lunch at a local place. Just what we were looking for. Upon first glance you could think that There’s nothing to do on Contadora and surrounding islands but Ilene showed us the local side of the Pearl Islands. Highly recommend! See more..

They provided us lodging and amazing food prepared by locals! 7. 5.0 Museo de la Mola (26 reviews)
    - Intimate, Beautiful Museum
    Speciality Museums
    Museo de la Mola image
This small, free museum is definitely worth your time. The molas are beautifully displayed and the exhibits are well curated. The museum does an excellent job explaining the craft’s history, cultural significance and how they are sewed. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. Really, the only negative was that there’s no gift shop in which to buy an authentic mola when you leave. The staff said there are plans to rectify this and advised purchasing from native women selling in some of the nearby plazas. See more..
  8. 5.0 El Camino Real (26 reviews)
    - El Camino Real - an amazing trip
    Hiking Trails
    El Camino Real image
We did the Camino Real with the company “Jungle Treks” in February. It was an amazing trip with the very experienced guide Rick Morales. On the one hand, hiking and sleeping in the jungle is itself a wonderful experience. The nature around the trek is pristine. Within the jungle we saw lots of unique plants and animals. Although we were far away from civilization, we always felt save due to the professional knowledge of the guide. On the other hand the relicts of the Spanish conquerors who used the trail to transport gold and silver from the Pacific to the Atlantic coast make this trail really special. We even could see some of the old pavements and stairs built by the Spanish. Rick knows every historical background of the Camino Real and wants the participants to dip into the past. Everything was very well organized.. It was a great adventurous trip, which is really worth doing it. So we can definitely recommend “Jungle Treks” and the Camino Real Trek, when you are looking for a beautiful hiking trip offside the main tourist paths. See more..

    - Great Island tour operators

Personal bi-lingual service for 1 to 101 people (I made up the 101). Friendly, courteous and most importantly knowledgeable. On their walking tours you'll learn about pirates and the over 500 year History of this beautiful island. They offer tours, arrange for local boat operators to take you fishing or simply for a leisurely cruise around the island. A MUST for birders. About 95% of Taboga is dedicated as a rest and feeding preserve for oceanic migratory birds...amazing! Heidi, Herminio and their crew will deliver a wonderful experience on land or on sea. See more..
  10. 5.0 Popote The Surf School (17 reviews)
    - Amazing learning and surfing experience!!
    Saturday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Surfing & Windsurfing
    Popote The Surf School image
I had the best experience that I can hope for with Popote as a solo traveler and beginner surfer! I took a class on my first day, and rented the board for the following two days to surf myself. The owner, Popote, was a such a great person!! He is very passionate about surfing and is constantly bringing in new ideas on how to surf better and help people to enjoy surf more! He was very patient with me, and he broke the surfing skills into baby steps that anyone can easily follow. By the end of my first lesson, I was able to pop up on my board and surf small waves! Even when I was not taking the class in the next two day, Popote was very generous in giving me tips to help me surf better. He also kept track of the tides and recommend best time for me to hit the beach for mellow waves that suited my skill level. I definitely highly recommend Popote for anyone who wants to learn how to surf, or who enjoys talking about surfing! See more..

We just went for lunch and had a great pizza, Pad Thai and seared fish. Friendly waitress spoke good English, and lovely spot to enjoy the breeze and watch the kite surfing and enjoy all the doggies running around. Cool vibe ☺️ and they kindly let us park the kids there while we went for a walk. Definitely coming back one day for a beginner's lesson: looked like perfect conditions with a steady wind at low tide See more..

  15. 4.5 Miraflores Visitor Center (8.366 reviews) from $155.00
    - Impressive Feat of Engineering to See
    Visitor Centers
    Miraflores Visitor Center image
We visited here on a Wednesday in early January 2023. The weather was perfect- sunny and warm. When our tour bus first arrived at 11 am, we were told that there were no ships arriving to pass through the locks until 2 pm. So, first tip- check when a ship will be going through, otherwise it would be a disappointing visit here. We came back at about 1:50 pm and the place was very crowded with spectators to watch a Holland cruise ship Zandamm pass. We did see the Miraflores locks open to allow the passage of the ship. Simultaneously, in the the new locks that are larger than Panamax south of Miraflores, we could see that an even larger cruise ship was passing through. One issue is that the cost of watching this is a bit exorbitant at over $16 USD per person. You cannot just see the Miraflores Locks, you are also given a ticket to an IMAX film about the Panama Canal's history. See more..

  17. 4.5 Avenida Balboa (2.498 reviews)
    - A Close-Up Perspective of Panama City
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas
    Avenida Balboa image
I believe that visiting a city is incomplete without a few hours walk of its streets, especially by the water, if the subject location has any kind of shore. Panama City is no exception and while is informaticve to see both the beautiful and ugly sides of any place, I tend to accept that large cities will always try to hide their barrios and trash behind some derelict walls or fences. I am trying to get over this aspect, every time, and enjoy the urban beauty, preferring to keep as memories the amazing architecture and landscapes. If you want to do the same - Panama has a lot to show you and its best perspective can be admired from the Balboa Avenue, along the water. It has a pedestrian route lined with palm trees, it feels safe and it is quite clean. See more..

  28. 4.5 Iglesia del Carmen (515 reviews)
    - Lovely church - go to mass while on vacation!
    Churches & Cathedrals
    Iglesia del Carmen image
We were staying at the Hilton DoubleTree and this church is 2 min walk away. Simple elegance outside and in. White exterior and beautiful interior with a red altar and blue ceilings. I found the combination very calming while listening to the Spanish mass. If you're Catholic - you know the order of mass so hearing it in Spanish you can 'translate' some in your head while sitting with the Panamanian parishioners in this peaceful setting. 3 Daily M-F masses, 9 masses on Sunday and 4 on Saturday. Attending mass while on vacation is a cultural treat - this church was a great start to our Sunday morning. See more..
