   Spent the better of the day here organized by Coronado Concierge. I believe you have to have at least 10 folks to be able to tour the facility and it was a great trip. Tour of the old homestead, then ox cart rides to the factory, sugar cane demo that was hands on, tour of the rum making, wonderful lunch and tours of the barrel warehouses. All very professionally done with a tasting and open bar at the end. Souvenir hat and rum tasting graduation certificate included. Highly recommend this trip! See more..

   A very picturesque cathedral situated in the middle of Chitré. Within, you feel an air of traquility due to the air and light which come flooding through the doors and open windows. Just looking around you can see the wooden beams stretching out on the ceiling and statues lining the walls. The services here look beautiful but unfortunately there wasn't enough space inside so I could only watch from outside, so if you want to go to a service there get there early, as it gets packed with locals. For me the best time to see the church is at night when it is all lit up, which makes it a great time to take out that camera of yours. See more..

   We took Cubita's Folcloric Tour and it was a great experience for our family. As Panamanians, we always see some of the folk items at shows or celebrations, but never got to see first hand how each of these items are made. This is what this tour is all about, seen our artisans at work at their places. In a little over 4 hours, we got to see how La Arena's artisan bread is made, all the detail and work that goes along to hand made Panama's beautiful national dress called "Pollera", how Diablicos (little devils) masks are made and then how to transform a wooden log into a "tambor" (folk drum). This is a tour everybody should take, Panamanians and tourists. Highly recommended!!! See more..

   This is a little visited, no admission fee, national park a few miles from Chitre . Absolutely zero signage directing visitors to the park. It's google maps or nothing. I'm a gardener and was interested in the plant life in this desert like landscape a short distance from the sea. There are a few short hiking trails. There is also a drivable dirt/mud road that I did not want to drive without a 4x4. Come in the morning before it gets too hot. See more..

   It is a museum situated in an old colonial building. It is a great little museum showing the history of the area. It has old pottery and jewellry from the area and also an original ancient burial ground, showing you what they used to get buried in and they used to dress them up properly before getting buried! Also on the second floor you can see the dragon masks which get made in the area, I have to say some of them are scary but definitely worth going to see because many of the locals wear these during festivals throughout the year, but some of them definitely send a shiver down your body. It is only a one dollar entry so I would recommend going just to get to know the history, however I would say that being able to read Spanish would be helpful because all the descriptions are in Spanish, so you may get lost in the ages if you can't.
