Noni from the Victory Hotel in Tentena arranged for transport to the remote Bada valley and also got us in touch with a very good local guide to visit the megalith sites. All in all, also because of the relaxed surroundings and spacious rooms, a highly recommended place to stay! See more..
  2. 4.5 Bukit Doa Kelong (84 reviews)
    - Little pilgrimage or lovely walk, you choose
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Bukit Doa Kelong image
Entry to this site is Rs15,000 per person. It is a very beautiful and well maintained garden around a large paved pathway that winds up a hill with great views from the top. Along the way are high quality life-sized statues of the Stations of the Cross. At the top there is a chapel and amphitheatre. This would be a nice pilgrimage site for Catholics. For us it was a nice walk through lovely gardens with birds and butterflies. Whilst it is up hill, it is not a challenging walk. The living ‘rails’ along the path are made from tree-fern stumps and ropes which have become small gardens in their own right. I was impressed with the landscaping, cleanliness and maintenance of this place and it is well worth a visit if you are going to other sites in this area. See more..

Kepulauan togean are so beautiful over and underwater. It's a long and not so easy way to get there but absolutely worth the effort. The government has just established patrols to protect the reefs and stop dynamite fishing. Education and information on ecosystem and environment is supported and action starts to somehow deal with the rubbish problem. Your 150.000RP entrance fee is the best chance for you to support the ongoing efforts so please be sure to register and pay :-) See more..

    Taka Bonerate National Park image
It's never easy to reach paradise, if time is your biggest concern there is flight available from Makasar to Selayar (45 min) and still you need to have boat ride for around 4 hours, it never hurt if you want to use alternative transportation mixed between bus, ferry and boat ride with total of 14 hours, you will have different and unique view along the way and plus it allow you to stop to try local cusine. Taka bonerate is a small island in National park complex, eventhough you surrounded by clean and healthy ocean environment, you're not allow to fishing here and the rangers is really firm with their job, yet you will forget about fishing since tons of activities waiting you here. You will have shore full with baby sharks to play with, use your snorkeling gear and visit the giant clams village in their jetty area, leave your sandal and walk barefoot around the island to feel the soft sand in your feet, queched your thirst with fresh coconut water, prerape your camera for the breathtaking sunset/sunrise, during the night sleep outside under the stars, it's time to reconnect with your self and the best part is no mobile reception in this island. Diving is also must to do here, don't worry about the safety, your dive master is the ranger that dive everyday to do coral check, they're really capable, expereinced diver and know the dive spot very well. The rangers is the most friendly people on earth, they love to sit and chat with you for hours! soon you forget that you're a stanger in this small paradise. Although the accomodation is very basic with limited fresh water, I enjoyed my 4 days stay here and would love to go back again See more..
