    - Part of Dutch Colonial History
    Historic Sites
    Fort Rotterdam image
Big fort from the Dutch colonial history, well restored. Pity that the explanations on panels are only in Indonesian language. Guides offer their services at the entrance, but be aware: the one we had spoke hardly any English and charged 100.000 rupees, far too much. See more..

    Bada Valley image
Noni from the Victory Hotel in Tentena arranged for transport to the remote Bada valley and also got us in touch with a very good local guide to visit the megalith sites. She was also very helpful in finding transport for our onward journey to Ampana and the Togean Islands. All in all, also because of the relaxed surroundings and spacious rooms, a highly recommended place to stay! See more..

We did trip to this fort by using rent car, this fort has historical value and also it's Indonesian cultural heritage. But unfortunately this fort is not well maintain, quite close with settlement and cemetery. See more..
  5. 5.0 Ancient Relics Site Liang Kobori (2 reviews)
    - Extraordinary Prehistoric Art Site
    Historic Sites
Ancient Relics Site Liang Kobori image
Liangkabori Cave turned out to be the unexpected highlight of our first week in Sulawesi Tenggara. This is perhaps the best cave art sight we have seen, up there with Bhimbetka in India. In the main cave there are 130 paintings visible, ranging from a massive ox-like creature to suns, mounted riders, ancestor figures, boats and the oldest depictions of kites on Earth. These vivid scenes are both photogenic and a fascinating window on ancient Sulawesi. There's a second cave higher up the hill. It features one good hunting scene panel but the main attraction for some will be an underground chamber which was used by local mystics for meditation. It is not for the claustrophobic or faint of heart, however. Local kids will show you the way. See more..
  6. 5.0 House of King Abdul Rabbie (1 review)
    - Rumah Raja - Sisa sejarah Kebesaran Kerajaan Bungku Masa Lalu
Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites
House of King Abdul Rabbie image

    - Benteng Baadia is one of the Organic Fortresses on the land of Buton
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
    Baadia Fortress image
Benteng Baadia is an Organic Fortress which was built using local materials and by the Buton ethnic community, one of the places where the heyday of the Buton Sultanate was made a reconnaissance fort. What is special and worth exploring is the knowledge to build this fort at that time. See more..
