  1. 4.5 Bunaken National Marine Park (873 reviews)
    - Wall diving with Incredible colour and diversity in warm watter
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Bunaken National Marine Park image
I have been to many places around Indonesia, but this was my first time in Bunaken. It is mostly walls dives. I found the coral colours to be brilliant. Turtles where everywhere! And focusing in on the many small nudibranchs - could have spend so much time in just a few square meters! Water visibility was tremendous for most every dive (15m to 25m). And the water temperature was fantastic for me as I tend to get cold easily - but not here in 30C water. On the complete opposite end - we did a trash dive for Project Aware. Unfortunately some spots around the area have trash accumulated (but most areas were very clean). See more..
  2. 3.5 Bantimurung National Park (273 reviews)
    - The butterfly park
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Bantimurung National Park image
I went to this park and then I read the reviews here on trip advisor, especially the negative ones. I don't agree with them. There are live butterflies here, many of them. I spotted some. The area where the most butterflies are was to crowded with kids trying to catch them so I did not bother going over there but there were dozens of butterflies flying around. The park is nice and when I was there did look maintained. If you have kids this is a great place to take them if they enjoy playing in water the waterfall is great. This price for admission is higher for foreigners but I paid the local price because I had an Indonesian friend with me not a tour guide. That helps. Still it's not that much more. Bantimurung does not mean butterflies it's simply the name of the park. See more..
  3. 5.0 Lembeh Strait (241 reviews)
    - Indeed the best muck diving
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Lembeh Strait image
Dived 10x here over the course of 5 days, each one showcasing something different. Recommend Odyssea Divers, who know the sites exceptionally well. Also recommend the mandarin fish dive - very likely you'll see them mating; and the black water dive, which is something quite different from the usual! See more..
  4. 4.5 Rammang-Rammang Village (172 reviews)
    - How to reach Rammang Rammang
Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Rammang-Rammang Village image
Firstly, this is a great trip out from Makassar, especially if you are staying near the airport. If you go by taxi it's about 140000 one way. However, we travelled by pete pete, the small blue local vans. Get yourself to Terminal Daya then pick up another pete pete to Pangkep. Ask them to drop you at Rammang Rammang (pronounced Ramung Ramung!). You then have to walk about 1km to the boat pier. It costs 200000 for a smaller boat for 4 then a little more for bigger boats. Sometimes they insist on foreigners having their own boat but we managed to share with a group of Indonesians to reduce the cost. The trip is stunning. You travel for about 25 mins by river, through the karst to a plateau of rice fields surrounded by hills. It is spectacular! You are free to wander where you like but there is a route around taking in caves and small cafes. For a tiny entrance fee you can also stop at a small limestone village on the return journey. It's a really great trip out if you have a spare day in Makassar and if you travel by pete pete the return journey only costs 20000 each. See more..

    - Must-See if you are a tourist in the Lembeh or Bunaken

    Tangkoko National Reserve image
If you are a diver visiting Lembeh or Bunaken, we would highly recommed to also visit the Tangkoko National Reserve. WIth a competent guide, you will see so many animals during a 3-4 hour visit - for us it was simply amazing. You will be in a beautiful rainforest with easy hikes - more tourists should visit and provide an incentive for the surrounding communities to protect this incredible nature. See more..
  6. 4.5 Bukit Doa Kelong (84 reviews)
    - Little pilgrimage or lovely walk, you choose
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Bukit Doa Kelong image
Entry to this site is Rs15,000 per person. It is a very beautiful and well maintained garden around a large paved pathway that winds up a hill with great views from the top. Along the way are high quality life-sized statues of the Stations of the Cross. At the top there is a chapel and amphitheatre. This would be a nice pilgrimage site for Catholics. For us it was a nice walk through lovely gardens with birds and butterflies. Whilst it is up hill, it is not a challenging walk. The living ‘rails’ along the path are made from tree-fern stumps and ropes which have become small gardens in their own right. I was impressed with the landscaping, cleanliness and maintenance of this place and it is well worth a visit if you are going to other sites in this area. See more..
  7. 4.5 Kepulauan Togean Nasional Park (73 reviews)
    - please support the marine national park
National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Kepulauan Togean Nasional Park image
Kepulauan togean are so beautiful over and underwater. It's a long and not so easy way to get there but absolutely worth the effort. The government has just established patrols to protect the reefs and stop dynamite fishing. Education and information on ecosystem and environment is supported and action starts to somehow deal with the rubbish problem. Your 150.000RP entrance fee is the best chance for you to support the ongoing efforts so please be sure to register and pay :-) See more..

    - Unexplored and off the beaten track

    Karst Maros image
I set up a tour with Caraka Travelindo , ([email protected]) and was completely guided from airport to the Karst and dropped back to Makassar. I was picked up at the airport and driven 45 minutes to the small dock in Rammang Rammang, then a 20 minute motorized canoe ride to the nearby village then a 20 minute walk to the entrance to the Karst and that began the trip to view the hand prints and stalactites & stalagmites of the Karst- 45 minutes will get you to the back of the cave with stops along the way for photos and breathers-- learn to stoop low and be careful, can be slippery. Wear long pants and good shoes to keep the grip on the cave floor! Mely was my guide and she makes the trip! See more..

    Whale Shark Sightseeing Spot image
It's one of a lifetime experince meeting mighty whale shark. You can meet them everytime, you need to play with your luck to even see and meet them. Our driver suddenly tell us that there's some whale shark come near the spot so without preparation we go there. It's really sad because you actually can do snorkeling or diving there. And I'm not kidding but they're really huge. You need to rent some boat to go the the spot. See more..

    - Nice to discover the nature and apes
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Tangkoko Research Station image
We got this trip offered at Lumbalumba Diving and were there around lunchtime. The ranger walk with us 5 hours through the jungle and we were able to see many animals and a beautiful nature. Apes, the smallest ape (very small), snakes, spiders, bugs, birds and so on. It is a jungle. You should have definitely some spray to prepare yourself against mosquitoes and a long trouser would be helpful not to get hurt by some plants and spiders wich live near the ground. It was a beautiful day - just give it a try. See more..

In the Hungayono forest we observed maleo bird, Sulawesi black monkey (Macaca Nigrescens) and also Tarsius Spectrum Gursky. For hungayono forest exploration, we did it with a very experienced guide, especially in the fields of wildlife and birdwatching, namely Ardhy. He is very experienced in arranging trip especially about the forest in Gorontalo like Hungayono Forest. We found him in internet when we looked about the tour guide sulawesi. Enjoying the Hungayono forest great when you do it for two or three days. In the middle of the forest Ardhy arranged for us to live in a maleo conservation area or shelter. We stay Three days and two nights there. Even at night we do activities such as observing snakes. 15. 3.0 Saluleang Mangrove Forest Eco Tourism (1 review)
    - Wisata mangrove yang kekinian
Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
Saluleang Mangrove Forest Eco Tourism image
See more..
