4.5Liang Beach(74 reviews) - Nice Beach In Traditional Atmosphere Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
The Liang Beach is a nice beach to stop by while visiting Ambon. It lies in the north part of Ambon island, not too far from the Tulehu harbour. The view to the sea is fantastic, a good place for beach photography. This beach is mostly visited by the locals. Many small shops selling simple food and drinks are available. Public facilities such as shower and toilet are also available. You may need to ask the locals about sunbathing with swimsuit to avoid breaking the local customs. A lot of big trees around the location, nice shade from the sun. See more..
Dont get tricked by the view from the bandaneira. The trek itself is quite hard, especially if you are first after few days. Cautions & problems 1) Tons of moving rocks below your feet makes you slipping and possible hurting your legs & feets. Find a stick, dont go alone. Way down is way more dangerous than up. 2) Dont go when its gonna be raining!!!! 3) I have cleaned about 30-40 nets with huge spiders on the way to the top, bdcause we were first after one week of no-climb. Take a stick and look above your head. 4) There are hundreds of mosquito, you can not stop if you dont have long trousers & sleeves. We could stop max for 10 seconds with shorts. Hike is 2 long hour upwards. Repellent doesnt work as you are absolutely wet even if in good trekking condition. 5) If its cloudy, you not gonna see anything from top 6) afternoon climb is more in the shade, but best is to go in the morning. Worst time is start at 9-10 PM. Be sure to take minimum of 1.5l water per person. Beware of falling rocks from person climbing in front of you. And enjoy, was great experience and view!!!See more..

4.0Fort Amsterdam(52 reviews) - Nice Example Of A Period Fort Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites
While the outer walls are not original, the inner keep is. As a whole this compact fort will give an idea of what like was like for those living there, and there are great panoramic views from the top floor of the keep. On the ground floor of the keep look out for the (dark) prison cell with the cleverly constructed 'window'. Note that the fort is close to both Gereja Tua Immanuel and Masjid Tua Wapauwe - respectively the oldest church and mosque in Ambon.See more..

4.5Ngade Lake(39 reviews) - Best View for a lake Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water
My breath almost stopped when I saw the view of this lake, Ngade lake. What makes this different and stunning is that it has view of LAKE, BEACH, ISLAND and SEA all at one picture frame..!! You need to go high to get all those in one, and there's a good small paved road, close enough from the beach main road, that can bring you up there. But, for the best perfect angle, its rather difficult, coz it's inside local's property.See more..

A fantastic beach. Clearly among the five best in Southeast Asia. Some have called the feeling and look of the sand as baby powder - my frist impression was like corn flower. The second good thing is that the local clear up the plastic garbage which sorrowly are destroying a lot of the other great beaches and snorkelling sites in Indonesia.See more..

4.0Bandaneira Church(25 reviews) - Beautiful little piece of history Churches & Cathedrals
We walked up to the doors only to find them locked. We weren't there for more than 10 seconds when a young man from the Naval compound across the street ran over asking us if we wanted to look in. You can read and see the descriptions in other reviews as they're all quite accurate. If you're interested in history, it's worth reading up on this building and seeing the old reliefs engraved in the floor. We had the privilege of attending a church service on Good Friday. We found out that the Naval man with the keys as well as two ladies who showed up were all three a part of the clergy. They're extremely welcoming and although they speak very little English, they were clearly happy to have visitors and we enjoyed our time with the small group of Christians.See more..

Such a wonderful place to be with white sandy beach around the island. This island offer unique experience as you can walk up a kilometre long wooden bridge across the island and up to the shore. On the island entrance, theres an option of taking a ride in the back of a motorbike by locals. It costs only 15k Rupiah per single trip. Just try to bargain if you are international tourist. So you know this is your bargain point. Up in this island, there are several restaurants where you can eat grilled fish and other seafood selection made on spot. Average package price is around 150k Rupiah ($7) for 3 sort fishes, a portion of veggies and bucket of rice. Remember, the more fishes they offered you, the more you have to pay. My wife and I definitely had a wonderful time here although we went there during rainy season (may - june period), but this place has so much to offer in short period of time.See more..

4.0Banda Neira Old Town(15 reviews) - Walk through history Spent 2-3 hours Neighborhoods
Banda Naira has a storied history. It's so remote (7 hours by boat from the nearest city, Ambon) that much of its history is still out in the open, easily seen on a stroll through the old town. 4.0Monumen Martha Christina Tiahahu(13 reviews) - Somewhere u can feel the grieve, nationalism, and spirit of Indonesian Monuments & Statues
Martha Christina Tiahahu was a teenager who never gave up to colonialism in Amboina. She is one of Indonesian heroines who fought for Indonesian freedom. She refused to give up to the collonialist, and prefered to die in hunger and loneliness. Her dead body was trown to the sea. It ignited the strugle of Maluku people to fight for freedom. Now, her statue is standing tall, up above the hill facing the Ambon Strait, seems strong and unbeatable. Come here when the sun sets, the beauty of Ambon ciry, Ambon straits, and the sky is combined perfectly. Feel the breeze, feel the fight of one young lady for freedom. I can stay there for quite long, like I have conversation with Martha Christina. My nasionalism is bursting there.See more..
4.5Commonwealth War Cemetery(13 reviews) - Poignant place for reflection Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Cemeteries • Monuments & Statues
A beautifully kept cemetery in the shade of flamboyant trees, it is also known as the Australian cemetery due to the large numbers of Australian servicemen buried here. The cemetery on the site of a former Japanese Prisoner of War camp is the resting place for Australians who died in the Japanese invasion and in the camp itself. There are British servicemen too mostly from the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force . During my research I read the following which anyone planning to visit should bear in mind........ "Please be aware that there have been a number of instances recently where visitors have been charged to enter the site. We would like to state, categorically, that the Commonwealth War Graves Commission does not charge anyone for entering any cemetery, and visitors should not pay anyone, in order to gain access."See more..

4.0Maitara Island(9 reviews) - Went for the Eclipse, but loved the locals Spent < 1 hour Islands • Beaches
Had a great time here. The island is pretty small, and not used to tourists. There are no places to stay, so you'll have to camp, or know someone who can offer you a room. But be warned, the place is very underdeveloped, with no fresh water and basic toilets. If you need the comforts of civilisation, then it is advisable to get a boat from Ternate in the morning, to take you to the more secluded beaches. You can probably secure a chartered boat for less than 100,000 IRL.See more..
