  1. 5.0 Double Decker Living Root Bridge (823 reviews)
    - Challenge your self
Thursday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Bridges
Double Decker Living Root Bridge image
One must have "will power" to go down 3500 steps with little courage to climb up the same steps. The place is extra ordinary. There is a ticket plus charges for still and movie camera. For photography, please start decent at 6am or else place gets crowdy or night stay to various home stays. It takes 2 hours to go down and more than 3 or 3.5 hours to climb up in phases. Take stick with you to support your trek/ journey. Natural, double decker tree root bridge is a must to see attraction if you are visiting Meghalaya. See more..
  2. 5.0 Krang Suri Falls (103 reviews)
    - Spectacular waterfall
    Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Waterfalls
    Krang Suri Falls image
Must visit jowai and krang suri falls in west jantia hills. The emerald blue water is mesmerising. Though I could not take a dip in it as the water was icy cold in December. See more..
  3. 5.0 Rainbow Falls (34 reviews)
    - Mesmerising Rainbow falls
    Waterfalls
    Rainbow Falls image
Rainbow falls is truly majestic, specially needs a bit of luck to actually see the rainbow. To experience this nature’s wonderful creation, you have to trek nearly 6 kms one way. Wait! its just the distance I mentioned. The terrain is difficult 3500 steps + over 1.5 hour more to reach. But its worth it when you hear the roaring music of this imposing beauty. Carry lots of water/ fluids. Workout for a couple of weeks before you attempt this. Also start as early as possible. If you wanna see the rainbow (on a clear day), try to reach here before noon. Also, don’t forget to rent walking sticks for just Rs.20. Its super helpful. Take a dip in the clean blue water and spend a lot of time witnessing this mesmerising beauty. See more..
  4. 5.0 Wei Sawdong (24 reviews)
    - Breathtakingly beautiful !!
    Thursday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Waterfalls
    Wei Sawdong image
We visited Wei Sawdong in the first week of December and were a little apprehensive about the water in the falls. Everyone around said that the water flow will be very less and it will be not worth going. But believe you me these falls were the most amazing ones that we have ever seen. The climb down to the falls is like an obstacle course but something which is achievable if you have good fitness leve. Its a little tricky coming down the bamboo stairs but its all worth the effort. The first view of the falls from the view point is the most awesome view cause you get to see all three falls together. Since the water flow was less we could climb upto the second fall and could sit there and enjoy the peace and calm cool water. If you are a little adventurous then I would suggest that you visit these falls for the mesmerising experience !! See more..
  5. 4.5 Umiam Lake (994 reviews)
    - Serenity and Vastness leave you spellbound
    Bodies of Water
    Umiam Lake image
Umaim Lake was the first treat to the eyes, enroute to Shillong from Guwahati airport. We stopped here during the evening and walked up to the lake from the parking area. It offered us an amazing sun set view and a relaxed evening. You can sit by the lake and either enjoy a boat ride or experience the serenity as it was quite peaceful with very less crowd. Initially it seemed to be a small man made lake but when we started our journey back in the car, it continued along the road and was pretty extensive. I wanted to come back and enjoy the expanse of this lake, which we did while coming back to Guwahati airport. You can spend one full day here and enjoy with family. See more..
  6. 4.5 Mawsmai Cave (779 reviews)
    - Mesmerising MAWSMAI - the caves having limestone deposit are very unique. It’s a huge and long cave complex
    Caverns & Caves
    Mawsmai Cave image
Mawsmai cave is beautiful with number of caves and huge in some places and in some caves places u have to crawl but it’s exciting and MUST visit if you are coming to Cherrapunji. Nearby 7 sister waterfalls is there. We went in a day trip in February 2022 from Guwahati and came back in evening. The caves have limestone deposits and adequately lighted inside. The stones are uneven so places your feet carefully in some places it’s very polished also so can be slippery when water is there during rains. This place is one of the most attractive tourist spot and lots of tourists visit this place. As such there is huge parking facility small shops for selling souvenirs and adequate tourist amenities of food , toilets all are available .. now coming to the caves :- Meghalaya has lots of caves and mostly all caves are having limestone formations See more..

    Nohkalikai Falls image
The height of these waterfalls and their beauty must not be missed. When we went it was foggy but we got to see it again on our return from cherrapunji holiday resort from a different side so worth it. How can 1 rate nature. It's just something u must not skip. Before entering and paying 50per head , 1 per should go and check for visibility of falls. We wanted 200 stupidly at the main point . See more..
  9. 4.5 Dawki River (459 reviews)
    - Good experience
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water
    Dawki River image
The river is very clean. Though heavy traffic of trucks in this area, so plan to leave early to reach the river by 9 am when it's sunny but not too hot. It is good when it has not rained or the water gets muddy. If you are interested in water sports, 5 km to this place is Shnongpdeng, where you can do water sports on the same river. I missed it as was not aware and had less time. You will get 45 mins of boat ride where 3 people will be allowed and charge you 800/-. 15 mins going + 15 mins coming back +1 5-20mins at the island. You will get better photographs of the island (more scenic). Even professional photographer is available there and some pics can be clicked at a price of 30 rs/each pic. You see the Bangladesh border at the shore of the river but it seems very crowded and dirty. But the river and boat ride is awesome. See more..

    - Natural Habitat

    Mawphlang Sacred Forest image
We booked ourselves for a full tour of the Sacred Grove and we thoroughly cherished every moment spent there. Our guide took us leisurely for a walk around the woods, pointing out some interesting trees, explaining the history, traditions and rituals related to the place. The best part about this forest is it’s undisturbed ambience which makes it so appealing! See more..
  11. 4.5 Laitlum Canyons (263 reviews)
    - This is one place which is worth visiting and cant be missed.
    Geologic Formations
    Laitlum Canyons image
This is one place which is worth visiting and cant be missed. We went in June and weather was cloudy. The moment we entered the parking, it started raining heavily but we took our raincoats and marched into the canyons. We walked holding the wooden railing amidst heavy downpour & landed up in an unbelievably beautiful place with greenery all around. We soon realized why Meghalaya is called "Scotland of the east" and "Land of Clouds" - We could live and breathe that feeling. Kids went crazy running around and throwing away umbrellas to enjoy natural rains and beauty. It was like being with the clouds - walking and feeling them hit your face. We spent quite a bit there, going till the extreme end and then the clouds disappeared and we could watch the canyons. Although it was not sunny and clear view but the whole experience of being at that place was great. Would strongly recommend the place if you want to fall in love with nature. See more..
  12. 4.5 Roots Bridges (252 reviews)
    - Must visit…
    Spent 1-2 hours Geologic Formations
    Roots Bridges image
This is a living root bridge which takes very less effort to visit when compared to others. You can visit it on the way to Mawlynnong and would recommend to take the entry which is further from the main entry and goes through a rough patch. This ensures you have less steps to climb as the car takes you very close to the bridge. It is a single root bridge but worth a visit with and waterfall beneath it. There is a entry charge of ₹40 per person to the place. See more..
  13. 4.5 Mawlynnong Waterfall (173 reviews)
    - Donot get confused over waterfall and village...
    Waterfalls
    Mawlynnong Waterfall image
I am little confused over the title waterfall. It should be village. however Mawlynlong is Asia's cleanest village. But thats it I thing. What is meant by clean is rather confusing to me and to realise it , I drive arond 100 Km from Shillong to see what is that. Its a nice semi urban village and its clean no - no stray leaves or dust ( as roads are well tarred). After reaching there I realise that this is how media created a hipe and thus promoto a business.. Its not so attractive .. Even I went to Vangmun ( In North Tripura) - that village was more appealing to me.. If one see mawlynlong and vangmun off course I shall give more marks to Vangmun... Only attractive thing is living root bridge - which is more attractive to me. I wish i can spend more time to that place. One can visit mawlynlong but someone misses - no regret... See more..
  14. 4.5 Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians (165 reviews)
    - Beautiful Architecture
    Churches & Cathedrals
Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians image
The architecture is fabulous. At the entrance of the Church, it will be difficult to comprehend the size of it. The moment reaching the first floor will be a shock to many of us. It is massive! Definitely worth visiting! Tip: Visit close to sunset. See more..
  15. 4.5 Mawkdok Dympep Valley (157 reviews)
    - Zip Lining Adventure
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Mawkdok Dympep Valley image
The valley is very very scenic providing the best views for photography. We also enjoyed the Zip Lining Adventure over the valley. The experience was very well managed with all safety precautions and excellent staff. The kids in our group loved the whole adventure. See more..

    - Family trip - Meghalaya Cherrapunji
Spent 1-2 hours Caverns & Caves
    Arwah Cave image
The caves were located closer to our hotel jiva . The way to entry point of caves was beautiful and out of this world experience. Inside the caves there were special spots which were difficult to access but with local guide the visit became very interesting and excellent views of some fossils and close areas . We spent around 45 minutes in the cave and it was worth it . See more..
  17. 4.5 Jingmaham Living Root Bridge (116 reviews)
    - Incorrect name
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts
    Jingmaham Living Root Bridge image
Its not called "Jingmaham". From the local guide, I learnt that Jingmaham means "safety instructions" in local language. :D Its a single living root bridge at Wahthyllong hamlet, 10 minutes drive away from Mawlynnong. See more..

    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Meghalaya’s Mawlynnong image
Very peaceful place. Lots and lots of trees, flowers and butterflies!!! I was there in the month of August, 22 and it was an amazing experience. I must mention one person, Dipak Sarkar (98623 30333) who helped us with all the itinerary and cab service. He is humble and genuine person. I would recommend him to anyone travelling here. 20. 4.5 Dain-Thlen Falls (98 reviews)
    - Dainthlen Falls - Must visit place in Cherapunji
    Waterfalls
    Dain-Thlen Falls image
We visit this falls on a partly rainy day. When we reached the point marked "Dainthlen Falls", we were surprised. We just hear the sound of water falls, but we could not locate the falls due to heavy fog. The parking guy assist us to reached the falls and surprisingly it was only 50 - 80 meters away from the parking place. It is really amazing. Highly recommend. See more..
  21. 4.5 David Scott Trail (71 reviews)
    - Absolutely mesmerizing experience with an AMAZING guide!
Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
    David Scott Trail image
The trail was an amazing experience. We started at 10 in the sunny december winter. It was a temperate weather and very soulful journey. We passed through forest, waterfalls, amazing landscapes, hills and bridges. We not only spent time in nature but also got to know the history of Meghalaya and Khasi People from an amazing guide and native of Mawphlang (Bun is his name in short :D). Each and every penny that you give to this guy is worth it. He takes amazing pictures and keeps you engaged during the whole trek. He adjusts his won pace with you and makes you feel at home. It's a good idea to start the trek by 9 AM as you will get more time in the trek. It is highly advisable to take a guide otherwise you can get lost in the confusing mountain roads. 22. 4.5 Garden of Caves (48 reviews)
    - Must visit to experience Sohra…
    Gardens
    Garden of Caves image
The Garden of Caves is one of the best attractions in Sohra and quite a hidden gem. The place requires you to walk through the garden in a designated path on which you can see 11 different spots which are clearly marked. It is one place where you get to experience a river, rich flora, caves and several waterfalls very up close which was one of the best ways to view them. It was a wonderful experience and the garden was even more beautiful due to the rains. Only point against it is that you have to walk a lot with several steps and would recommend only the first waterfall and cave experience for the ones who cannot exert much as there is a exit point just near these spots while if you go to the other spots it’s a long way back. Must visit place. See more..
  23. 4.5 Bophill Falls (23 reviews)
    - Bophill Falls, Dwaki, Meghalaya - An unexplored and wild Beauty
    Waterfalls
    Bophill Falls image
Dawki is a town in Jaintia Hills district, Meghalaya, India. It is one of the few road border crossings between India and Bangladesh. It is used mainly for coal transportation to Bangladesh. Some 5 kms away from Dawki towards Mawlynnong, a wide waterfalls is located on the road named as Bop Hill Falls. It streams down to form a river in the Sylhet Borders of Bangladesh. A pleasure for eyes, as hardly we come to see a place where a waterfalls is forming into a river of a neighbourhood country plains. The water is milky white and gushing down to form water droplets. Unexplored, serene and deep in the nature. A short stay here for 10-15 mins is recommended just to devour the beauty of the place. People visiting Mawlynnong can also explore a bit towards this side. Around 15 kms down from Mawlynnong towards Dawki. Don't forget to bring your cameras and umbrellas of course if it's monsoon. Advisable to come during monsoons/summer to get the best views. See more..
  24. 4.5 Tyrshi Falls (17 reviews)
    - Must visit for its beauty…
    Waterfalls
    Tyrshi Falls image
These are lesser known falls which come about an hour before Krangsuri falls when visiting from Shillong. It is a must visit as you get to walk through lush fields, small brooks and a very well maintained path that takes you to the waterfalls. You view the falls from the top at the first level with an option to go down several steps to view the complete falls from below but the steps become quite slippery towards bottom. You also get wonderful views which reminded me of Switzerland from near the top of the falls. Would highly recommend to visit. See more..
  25. 4.5 Ialong Park (11 reviews)

    Ialong Park image
Ialong Park is a hidden gem, located at outskirts of Jowai. The Park also have a Sacred Forest and a Viewpoint offering breathtaking view. See more..
  26. 4.5 Nongkhnum Island (10 reviews)
    - Serenity reigns at the largest river island of Meghalaya
    Islands
    Nongkhnum Island image
Nongkhnum Island is for those people who love peace and tranquility and do not mind to travel roads that are full of potholes. The place is a really beautiful place amidst nowhere. When I reached the island there was practically no one there. You can simply sit there and relax and watch the blue waters of the rivers. I also took a boat ride to the other side of the river to get a good view of the waterfall. There is a walking trail to the waterfall viewpoint there, but when I visited the place was overgrown with trees and grasses that I did not take a chance to go through the trail. But the road to Nongkhnum Island is a long one from Shillong. And the road from Nongstoin is in a bad condition. So if you do not ming these trivial, then this place is simply a piece of heaven! PS: You can even stay at the island in the night. Camping can be arranged. See more..
  27. 4.5 Durga Temple (10 reviews)
    - Best - calm and quiet place for meditation
    Religious Sites
    Durga Temple image
Its one of the best Shakti Peethas ever visited. This temple located in the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, Nartiang Durga Mandir is about 60 km away from Shillong. The road till the temple is quite good. Be careful at some quite narrow patches, near the temple. Steps to go to temple are bit worned out, be careful, or better go thro the govt. office, situated quite closed to the temple. This is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas of Hindu Mythology, Nartiang Durga Mandir is a 500-year-old shrine devoted to the goddess Durga. Devi's left thigh is believed to have fallen at Nartiang in the Jaintia Hills. Hence the Goddess here is known as 'Jainteshwari'. See more..

  29. 4.5 Stone Bridge (8 reviews)
    - A Historical Bridge
    Bridges
    Stone Bridge image
This is definitely one of the good things to see right on the Jowai-Amlarem Road. This is an old historic stone bridge used by the Jaintia Rajas to cross while travelling from their Summer Capital in Nartiang to their Winter Capital in Jaintiapur (now in Bangladesh). This bridge is around 500 years old but was broken when an elephant tried crossing it. Now just next to this bridge stands a 50 years old Steel Bridge and a 10 year old RCC Bridge. See more..
